Transgender Former Navy SEAL Kristin Beck Blasts Chelsea Manning: 'a Traitor to Me Personally'

Kristin Beck, the former elite Navy Seal who was a member of the elite Seal Team 6 and came out as transgender in her book Warrior Princess earlier this year, issued a strong condemnation of Chelsea Manning last night on Facebook in which she accuses Manning of using her gender identity for her own gain.

C_manningWrites Beck:

The "Manning debacle"... I did not ever want to give this person any of my time...
Too many media requests have poured in, so here is what I have to say:

What you wear, what color you are, your religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity has no basis on whether you are a CRIMINAL or NOT.  For this person, whether male or female to use gender identity to act "BADLY" is a slap in the face to me and everyone who does not fit the "Binary Gender Norm." It is not an excuse for anything illegal or unjust.

This person took an oath to protect American interest and defend the constitution, and took additional oaths due to security clearances to protect information that leaders deem secret. There are legal avenues to whistle blow or bring attention to issues. THIS person is a liar and a thief and a traitor to many people. If Bradley is truly "Chelsea" then "she" is a traitor to ME personally. There is no excuse.
Another problem I have is the EGO that manning had that he would take it upon himself to make a decision to release documents based on personal assumptions, nearly no experience, and without the whole picture. Some say hero? some say traitor? I just say "misguided, egotistical Liar and thief" which can be applied to both hero or traitor depending on a few factors.

Let me pose a scenario....
LEVANWORTH-very tough place with a lot of Marines and others who defended AMERICA and are spending a year or two there for mistakes and bad conduct. Minor sentences, but still loyal to American interest.
GENERAL Prison population: Tough place to be in any prison.
MEDIA: Manning is know to every person in the prison.
SOLITARY: option for Manning to stay alive, but very lonely and its punishment.
TRANSGENDER: Most prisons have special accommodations to ensure safety for that person.
OUTCOME: Manning shows one photo or a few "halloween" photos or him and some of his friends dabbled? These photos are released and a story is unfolded....He is Chelsea and protected in special accommodations.
He will not be in general population where his life expectancy would be about a year tops....He is now using something AGAIN for his own gain.

Continued, AFTER THE JUMP...

THE BIGGEST problem I have with the whole thing about Chelsea is that as a Transgender person and as an upstanding citizen and knowing many other transgender people who are beacons of righteousness AND that ALL Americans May become FREE. WE are right at a point in HISTORY were many people are beginning to understand who we are as Transgender, DIVERSE, and that we are just like everyone else...WE ARE manning just dirtied the hope of a truly FREE America.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "I have a Dream" speech was 50 years ago....I am still hoping for HIS dream of equality for ALL. America to be a beacon of Freedom and equality, to see his dream of the "red hills" come alive. I am still dreaming of equality....
Manning is a tarnish on my dream, he is a tarnish on Dr. Kings Dream.

  1. Holy crap!! Invoking an anti-war activist like Dr. King to slam Chelsea Manning is the height of hypocrisy. She exposed war crimes and showed that our "honorable" military committed war crimes on our behalf. This über loyalty to the military must stop. You know what else Dr. King said? That the US government is the biggest purveyor of violence in the world. Maybe focus on what he said about war before you use him to trash the bravery and self sacrifice that Chelsea displays.

  2. Kristin Beck is an utter fool.

Chelsea Manning is a national hero for exposing the USA's crimes against humanity.

    Kristin Beck is a disgrace.

  3. Both Kristin Beck and Bradley Manning appear to be unbalanced. I wonder when they will declare themselves to be lesbians....

  4. Kristin Beck is deliberately misgendering Chelsea Manning.

Kristin Beck looks like a big, burly truckdriver in a bad wig.

He won't mind me saying that as he is perfectly fine with transphobia as well.

  5. Just dreadful –
If CM is using this to get a better prison assignment - more power to her!!
Does this idiot not know the abusive conditions that manning was subjected to for months on end?
Let him game the system – the US military essentially tortured him
He should be awarded the congressional medal of honor for helping start the arab spring –
Folks who killed innocent civilians in cold blood have been given less time then manning got –
    This tool is profoundly uniformed

  6. Manning used the fact that she was transgendered and confused as a reason for leaking the documents. Doesn't that bother you pro-transgendered rights folks?

  7. Transgender is a load of crap. A person can play along only so long before your pop-psychology and made up "science" just falls flat on its ass. In other words, as long as it doesn't matter- dress in drag, call yourself Sybrina, and get all the surgery you can afford. But when you start serving up hostile BS then it's time to give you a little shake back to reality.

You are not a woman. You will never be a woman. ALl you are is a self hating man, which when you consider the advantages of being a man makes you totally messed up.

  8. @Reality, transfolk have rights, but Christopher Beck is correct that Manning is a traitor who's a disgrace to transfolk. No, you won't see the Manning groupies condemn Manning for the flimsy reasons Manning betrayed his country.

  9. I am definitely a progressive and have fought, volunteered, and contributed to lots of progressive causes- that said- Manning isn't a traitor or a hero to me.

The Iraq Helicopter video and the leak about Dyncorp hiring a 17-yr old dancing boy were important, and, to me, he would've been a hero had he only released those. However, the initial leak of the War Logs-with un-redacted names-put American personnel, military and civilian in harm's way. The subsequent leak of the diplomatic cables did nothing except to stmyie the efforts of the US State Dept. and make everyone feel they couldn't trust us. There was nothing useful in them- aside from the Dyncorp-dancing boy revelation.

I hate when uniformed, ridiculous liberals jump on news issues like this as a chance to bash the military- and yet, when there's a photo of a gay military couple finally getting to experience some happiness, everyone coos. Yes, our military has done some horrible, awful things, and we should always be ready to expose and bring to the sunlight that which contradicts our country's ideals. However, the majority of men and women in our military joined because they believe they can make a difference in this world, a good difference- like in Bosnia or in Haiti. Making generalized statements doesn't help us, and makes us look worse, even more stupid than knee-jerk, racist, sexist, anti-gay conservatives.

  10. Wow, some honesty about the situation. Manning isn't a hero, he leaked hundreds of thousands of documents without regard to content. He lucked out in that some of the documents contained some information that endeared him to certain political groups. The fact is that he also leaked private diplomatic cables, real time troop movements, military plans, and violated his oath,
The fact that GLAAD, HRC, media and even Andy Towle have jumped to defend this criminal, who now claims transgender status, simply because he says so...should be embarrassing to us all.

  11. Manning is not a hero. He's a very mentally unbalanced individual who should have been flagged early on and stopped from being put in any position where he could have caused mischief. He should have been booted from the army. He wasn't and the question is why and who is responsible?

    Posted by: ratbastard | Aug 23, 2013 9:22:09 AM

  12. Manning isn't a hero.

And Kristin Bell isn't a woman - he is a man who has amputated his penis and changed his name.

    Posted by: MaryM | Aug 23, 2013 9:23:53 AM

  13. Yikes, well I guess I have to say it:

Manning is a hero, that's what they do, they take the hit and try to help people. She felt that this was important enough and is paying the price for that. I couldn't define a more text book hero.

This Kristin Beck has some issues, I don't know her and I don't care. Luckily for her when she was really figuring out her feelings there wasn't some jerk manipulating every decision she made. People who do not familiarize themselves with Manning's case can shut the hell up.

Also, wow, you gay guys who are deciding that Trans people just don't really exist? You don't exist.

  14. Kristen Beck is a right wing pro-war thug. No one should be proud of being part of the US military murder machine. It's disgusting.

Chelsea Manning is a hero for exposing the war crimes mad dog warmongers like the Bushes, the Clintons and Obama who have, collectively, organized and ordered the murder and wounding of tens of thousands of GIs and hundreds of thousands of civilians from Libya to Pakistan.

  16. becks statement makes no sense. manning at no time used gender identity as reasoning for the leaking of classified info. and it's a stretch to imagine anyone using it to somehow gain an advantage in regards to prison accomodations. it seems more likely to make you more of a target in either situation.

shame on kristen, and here's hoping chelsae is able to deal with prison and her changing life.

  17. Why is all the focus on Manning at all? Why isn't anyone talking about the atrocities revealed in the documents that Manning helped leak???

    Posted by: keating | Aug 23, 2013 10:16:43 AM

  18. She said it best and I totally agree with Kristin Beck.

    Posted by: RFH | Aug 23, 2013 10:24:46 AM

  19. People who regard Chelsea Manning as a criminal or a traitor can never seem to explain how Manning's actions endangered a single American.

This burly drag queen Beck is also unable to explain this.

  20. It's like watching a brawl in an insane asylum. What does any of this have to do with gay people? Neither one of these people identifies as gay, so why is it being covered on a gay blog?

    Posted by: Tim | Aug 23, 2013 10:46:10 AM

  21. I agree that Pvt. Manning is a traitor. We're damn lucky that we got Don't Ask/Don't Tell repealed while the Manning affair was unfolding. Manning's actions, coupled with the fact that he was gay or that she was transgendered, illustrate the excuses given for excluding gays from the military.

    Posted by: Bill | Aug 23, 2013 10:52:17 AM

  22. @Tim, Towleroad is "a site with homosexual tendencies". It's Andy's site and it can have trans-tendencies too if it wants.

And the trans-hatred around here sometimes is as rotten as the homo-hatred on the Christo-bagger sites.

    Posted by: JakeAZ | Aug 23, 2013 10:57:00 AM

  23. Very well said. How quickly someone goes from being a hero to a demon when they disagree with the liberal gays. Bradley Manning is a traitor, disgraced the uniform, is trying to blame his treacherous actions on his personal issues, and isn't nearly getting enough time for his crime.

  25. Kristin Bell is wrong for so many reasons. She says that "What you[r] ... gender identity has no basis on whether you are a CRIMINAL or NOT." While I don't agree that Manning is a criminal, I agree with the sentiment. Your gender identity does not make you a criminal, nor does it change the degree of criminality you possess.

Then she says "If Bradley is truly "Chelsea" then "she" is a traitor to ME personally." But here Kristin says that if Manning is transgender, she is more of a traitor.

Sorry, Kristin, you can't have it both ways. While I don't agree with your opinion that Manning is a criminal, she is not more or less of a traitor depending on her gender identity.

Which is it? Is she (Manning) a traitor
