Actor Paul Walker Dies in Car Crash

Paul_walkerActor Paul Walker (The Fast and the Furious) has died in a car accident, TMZ is reporting:

The accident happened in Santa Clarita -- north of Los Angeles -- and according to multiple sources connected to Paul ... the actor was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree ... and then the car burst into flames.

Several of our sources -- some who are still at the scene of the accident -- tell us Paul and another person in the car were killed. Law enforcement is still on the scene, and we're told the L.A. County Coroner's Office is on the way.

TMZ, which published a photo of a crash scene, reports that it's unknown at this point what caused the accident.

ABC News tweets: "@ABC News confirms "Fast and Furious" star Paul Walker has died at the age of 40"

Variety has also confirmed the sad news.

Paul Walker's official Facebook page posted this message:

It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. - #TeamPW

  12. Probably not the right time to bring this up but I was always surprised that Paul Walker's career never got past that Fast and Furious Franchise.

He was rolled out as America's next great leading man but never lifted off and sunk back to comfortable territory with that car franchise

  13. Bit confusing. He has a normal name and he runs his own charity, but he also looks a little hispanic. Maybe just a bad pic?

  14. I've never seen a Fast and Furious movie and really have no desire to but I did like the movie he was in with the psycho trucker.

And obviously a tragic way to die and way too young.

  16. I never saw the Fast And Furious movies, I'm usually behind on many films, but I do remember him from Timeline. A beautiful man who was enjoyable in that film. I have no idea what kind of man he was in real life but I hope he had a good one. Sad to see someone die like that, especially leaving a child behind. RIP.

  17. So sad, he seemed like a nice grounded kind of guy, not the movie star type. R.I.P.

  18. Little Kiwi...your comment "Bit confusing. He has a normal name and he runs his own charity, but he also looks a little hispanic. Maybe just a bad pic?" what do you mean maybe a bad pic? you sound racist and immature. Your comment was very rude. You should embrace beauty and know that everyone is beautiful in their own way.

  24. I feel dumb saying this but I've never heard of him before till I saw this story in the Daily Mail today, and now i'm wondering if there is supposed to be a gay angle or something for towel road to have picked up the story.

  25. Why does Towleroad continue to allow people to post ignorant and sometimes hateful things under the name of folks they don't agree with. You people see the Email addresses from which these comments come and know they are bogus, so why do you not put a stop to it?
