Log Cabin Republicans Enraged by Gay Beefcake Obamacare Ad

Last week we posted an ad by Out2Enroll (the new effort by the Center for American Progress, the Sellers Dorsey Foundation, and the Federal Agencies Project to try and get LGBT signed up for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act) and Full Frontal Freedom.

The ad featured several scantily-clad Santa's helpers urging LGBT people to sign up for Obamacare, and the Log Cabin Republicans are enraged by it. They released a statement yesterday denouncing the clip:

"This cynical ad betrays the depths Obamacare advocates will sink to in order to pad their pathetic enrollment numbers," Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director Gregory T. Angelo declared. "As a self-proclaimed 'fierce advocate' of gay equality, President Obama would do well to distance himself from this nonsense and denounce it immediately. This ad is also an example of the left promoting harmful stereotypes that gay men are nothing more than sex-crazed lechers. If anyone on the right made such a comparison, liberals would be apoplectic. At a time when left-wing propagandists are decrying Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson for equating homosexuality with promiscuity and deviance, Out2Enroll and others should take a look in the mirror and ask if the truth is that they are the ones responsible for promoting such harmful stereotypes."

Watch it HERE if you missed it.

  4. The Log Cabin Republicans are offended? They offend people everyday by being the sheeple of the Republican Party.

  5. Instead of celebrating progress made in Utah and New Mexico, this ad and the duck dynasty storm in a teacup is what, in their own words, "the nations largest Republican organization dedicated to representing gay and lesbian conservatives and allies" spends its press and PR resources on?

they truly deserve to be laughed out of Dodge.

  6. So Log Cabins are working together with Tony Perkins' anti-gay hate group?

  7. It's clear from their statement that the Log Cabin Republicans are actually offended by the Affordable HealthCare Act (aka ObamaCare). Go figure. But, of course, they attack the messenger (ad) now instead of the law.

  10. That self-hating, gay version of an Uncle-Tom, piece of illiterate trash is just pissed off that not one of those underwear models would give him the time of day.

When heterosexuals do stuff like this it is fine but when gay people do it, it is "promoting" stereotypes. The double standers these CONservatives accept is repulsive. Heterosexuals created "Girls Gone Wild". Heterosexuals still rule the porn industry. The first major popular porn magazine, Playboy, was created by heterosexuals for heterosexuals. Spring Break and Mardi Gras? Primarily heterosexuals flashing their tits and asses and men acting like sex obsessed horn-dogs. But you know when young energetic gay guys do it, it is "promoting" stereotypes.

Are these the same gay CONservatives who had go-go boys at their RNC after party last year or was that Go Pound - I mean "Proud"?

  11. Groan inducingly stupid and utterly offensive - but the affordable healthcare initiative is vital so ugh, if it works I some people it works.

  12. It really is hilarious that conservatives, including the log-headed ones, denounce Obamacare while also implying it should have more enrollees. They have no clue what they even hate. Err, other than themselves, in this case.

  13. What ever happened to the notion that sex sells?

  14. I'm Canadian so, of course, I approve of "Obama Care" and I'm a huge fan of the president himself. I see this rather silly commercial as an effective tool to encourage young gay men to sign up. I'm not in its target market but I can see why it would reach those that are.
As to it being offensive, that's just ridiculous. As Acronym Jim stated, Log Cabin Republicans are against the Affordable Health Care Act itself, rather than this commercial. They are pathetic sycophants.

  15. Sorry, but "gay men are sex crazed lechers" is not entirely correct. All men are sex crazed lechers. We just happened to be born into it.

  16. If the Log Cabin Republicans are against it, it must be a good thing. I hate LCR.
