Christian Singer Debby Boone Now Accepts Gay People: VIDEO

Singer Debby Boone (best known for her massive 70's hit "You Light Up My Life") told Traipsing Thru Films at this weekend's GLAAD awards that she has shed the anti-gay perspective she was taught being brought up in a Christian family (her father is actor-songwriter Pat Boone, who has compared gay to terrorists) and that it was getting to know real gay people which helped her do so.

Said Boone:

“I'm really happy to be here in support of GLAAD, because I am one of the people that has made the transition from an old way of thinking to a new one. And I think that's really the crux of what GLAAD is all about...I have really good friends and family members that have changed my mind. And the couple that we're with tonight is a lesbian couple who attended the church where my husband was associate rector.”

  1. Does this mean she's partnering with a gay DJ for a HiNRG dance remix of her big hit?

  6. This is exactly what Harvey Milk meant when he told gays that they must come out and be known. It is important for every person to meet and get to know us so that we are no longer monsters. Debbi Boones "conversion" is testament to Milk's idea.

  9. I have always liked her music and now I can say that outloud. She had lots of other music besides 'You light up my life". One of her famous Christian songs was "Choose ife'. I did not choose to be gay but I can choose to be happy and productive in it. God doesn't make mistakes.
