Rick Perry Won't Explain Why He Stands Behind Texas GOP's Gay Reparative Therapy Platform: VIDEO

Crossfire_perry

Rick Perry continues to be blasted for his remarks comparing homosexuality to alcoholism and the Texas GOP's platform, which supports gay reparative therapy.

Stephanie Cutter repeatedly asked him to explain himself last night on Crossfire. Perry said he would leave that to the psychiatrists and doctors.

Cutter: "Who have rejected it. They've rejected it....So you have no opinion on any of this then? You have no opinion on either side. (laughs)."

  1. Rick Perry is a sick, evil f**K.

    And he's a closet case.

Trust. He is no stranger to sucking or sitting on peen.

  2. Oh let the states decide crap

Yeah that worked really well with slavery.

  3. It's well-known here in Texas that Perry covets Hispanic twinks.

  4. Every time he opens his mouth he puts his foot in it. His little meet and greet pre 2016 is not going well.

  5. The whispers throughout certain circles in both Austin and pockets of Texas that Mr. Perry is a closet case seem to have turned up to a dull roar over the past two decades.

If they're substantiated, it's an epic case of self-loathing if there ever was one.

  6. It sounds like he is fighting his desire to be with men.

  7. This man is what many of us in Texas have suffered with for far too long. Thank God he's not running for re-election as our Governor (although I fear his replacement will be equally as bad if not worse). He is an anti-science, anti-fact joke like so many of his GOP ilk in this state.

  8. If Rick Perry is a closeted gay man then are there journalists working on outing him at the moment?

    Posted by: MaryM | Jun 19, 2014 8:49:07 AM

  9. At very least, some journalist is going to have to ask Perry if he has personal experience with conversion therapy and if that is why he is in favor of it. I'm surprised it didn't happen here; it's really the only logical conclusion.

  10. I doubt that Rick is a closet case; but he is definitely one of the dumbest politicians in history, talk about a brainless dimwit!

And most certainly a cocaine addict.

  11. Rubbing my hands together in anticipation of the dirt they're going to uncover on this dude.

  12. Here's hoping Perry runs for President in 2016 as he brings comedic relief.....No one will need to defeat Perry if he runs because his words or lack of words will defeat himself...........

  13. He can't explain it because he is just taking the position is party wants him to take.

  14. Absolutely delicious. Yes America, there are MILLIONS of us here in Texas that despise this ignorant bigot. And he kept getting reelected all these years because of Republican jerry-rigging. He's a sick fraud and the great thing is he thinks he has a chance at becoming President some day. In what alternate universe???

  16. No surprises here. Homophobes can't rationally explain their hatred of gays beyond "THE BIBLE SAYS SO!", "GAY SEX IS ICKY!", or "IT MAKES ME FEEL AROUSED AND ASHAMED!".

  17. As for some journalist "putting" Perry, that could be dangerous; Dan Rather found that out by exposing Bush's AWOL status. Although, I hope proper journalists have learned that lesson and go after Perry if the rumors are true...I get tingly just thinking about it.

  18. Maybe someone told Ricky what to think.

  19. I wear those glasses so when I ping someone's gaydar they think it's my metrosexuality creating a false positive and they ignore it. "No way that Cary Grant lookin' dude is a homo," they say. Ha! Fooled 'em. Thanks, Cary.

  20. Rick Perry has dug a hole for himself with this issue and he will never get out of it. You can see it on his face.

  21. Seriously, taking Rick Perry's comments at face value, it sounds like he has struggled personally(and continues to struggle) with both alcoholism AND homosexuality. What he doesn't understand is that repressing his sexuality makes him turn to alcohol and other mood-altering substances. Anyone who saw him with that bottle of maple syrup at the New Hampshire campaign stop a couple of years back recognized it as a recent relapse.

  23. It's not just that Perry keeps trying to pivot to a different topic, it's that he does it so badly.
