Celebratory Video Shows Apple Employees, CEO Tim Cook at San Francisco LGBT Pride: WATCH

Apple

Yesterday, Apple posted a video on YouTube covering the company's support of the 5,000 employees who took part in San Francisco Pride on June 29th.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook also made a surprise appearance at San Francisco Pride last week.

"On June 29, thousands of Apple employees and their families marched in the San Francisco Pride Parade. They came from around the world — from cities as far as Munich, Paris, and Hong Kong — to celebrate Apple's unwavering commitment to equality and diversity. Because we believe that inclusion inspires innovation."

  1. I'm really looking forward to another edition of "Tim Cook is Out/No He Isn't."

  2. Tim Cooks needs to be referenced in future as 'openly closeted gay Apple CEO'.

He is a disgusting human being - the human rights abuuses inflicted on the sweatshop workers in China where Apple's products are manufactured are his responsibility.

Why are we celebrating that some closet case is at Pride in the US while his crimes against humanity are not acknowledged.

  3. Thumbs-up for gay rights, thumbs-down for Apple.

  5. To be fair, MaryM, Apple has taken many steps to make sure workers who put together their devices work in livable conditions and do not work excess hours. Apple became really aggressive with this after This American Life did a documentary on the sweatshops.

Also, I guarantee you that you are guilty of using devices and wearing clothes that were produced in sweatshops. We all are. This is an unfortunate thing, and you are right that the people at the top level should bear the responsibility of making sure people do not work in awful conditions. But we should also be conscious of where the products we rely on come from.

  6. Some people just get physically sick at the success of others. Even when it is so deserved and so well carried.

  7. Speaking of openly closeted individuals, Rick is here posting as MaryM. It's so easy to criticize individuals for being closeted from a place of anonymity.

  8. Tim Cook was at the front of the Apple brigade during the San Francisco Pride Parade. I was there and filmed the Apple group that took up nearly 1 full block of employees. There were also several naked strutting dudes, also filmed. You can see my video (both parts) by clicking on my name. People were cheering wildly when they realized Tim Cook was at the forefront of the parade. Whether he was just there as a CEO supporting his gay employees or outing himself, it didn't matter to us.

  9. SF Pride is diverse. Sure there are naked people but there are also lots of free thinkers that write amazing code. Sometimes they are one and the same. Hey you can live in a more conventional place or live in a place that is constantly re-inventing itself, and the economy.
