Gordon Klingenschmitt Says Rep. Jared Polis Wants To Behead Christians, Nominates Him In Ice Bucket Challenge - VIDEO

Gordon Klingenschmitt

Gordon Klingenschmitt, a Republican nominee for a seat in Colorado’s statehouse, has accused Democrats of lacking a sense of humor after he sent an email which said that Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) will “join ISIS in beheading Christians,” reports The Raw Story.

Klingenschmitt won a primary election in June and hopes to replace Mark Waller (R-Colorado Springs).

In the email, Klingenschmitt wrote:

“The open persecution of Christians is underway. Democrats like Polis want to bankrupt Christians who refuse to worship and endorse his sodomy. Next he’ll join ISIS in beheading Christians, but not just in Syria, right here in America.”

In reply, Mark Ferrandino, Speaker of the Colorado House, condemned Klingenschmitt’s remarks and demanded that Colorado Republicans do the same.

Colorado Republican spokesperson Owen Loftus said that Klingenschmitt’s comments “in no way reflect the views of the party.”

By way of apology, Klingenschmitt has since issued an apology of sorts via YouTube in which he blames Democrats for lacking a sense of humor and misunderstanding his use of hyperbole.

“This weekend I sent out an email alert to my constituents in which I used hyperbole. You know what hyperbole is. It’s a literary device where you exaggerate to make a point. Well, apparently some Democrats do not have a sense of humor and they were offended by some of the things I said using hyperbole this weekend.”

Although Klingenschmitt admitted in the video it was wrong to compare Polis to Islamic State extremists, he continued to claim that the Democrat was “persecuting Christian business owners here in America.”

  1. Most other Republicans don't say it out loud, but they hold equally stupid ideas.

  2. He should tell his hyperbole to the Foley family. Maybe they will find the humor he was looking for

  3. Given what I hear and read and observe, I doubt that the people who are Klingenscmidt's supporters understand irony, and "hyperbole" is mentioned nowhere in the Bible.
Some of them must think it refers to a super Ebola that the government plans to infiltrate into Christian churches and other gatherings to do a preliminary winnowing before the heads start rolling.

  4. Yet, with all of their bigotry, hatred, and ignorance, they are still predicted to take back the Senate this November. WTF ??????

  6. LOL, what do you mean "WTF?????" Last week after an American was beheaded by ISIS and Ferguson was rioting, your President was roundly criticized for golfing before that and made a statement about the beheading and reporters followed him after for ten minutes and he was back on the tees. FORE! Yeah, "WTF ????"

  7. He must speak solely in humorous hyperbole then because pretty much everything that comes out of his mouth is b@tsh#t crazy. Congratulations, Colorado Republicans, he's your man!

  8. This is what passes for wit or humour ?
    Hate has become mirth.
    Pity has become jaded.
The Republicans have become tyrants of their own rhetoric.

  9. The Romans have had a very undeserved bad press for their treatment of christians.

There is no 'god' and belief in 'god' is a sign of a deep-rooted mental illness.

  10. Classic political repartee, but waaaaay too soon for using Foley in a campaign. He'll be a gas in Congress. The Michele Bachmann replacement we've all been waiting for.

  11. So, using the beheading of a Christian by ISIS is fair-game for Republican "humor?" Well, allrighty then...let's just see where this will take us.

  12. Mike forgets the war criminal that preceded the current president (the one he voted for no less). And he forgets the way said war criminal handled Hurricane Katrina, the Economy, gay rights issues, reproductive rights issues and our military industrial complex.

But hey, it's much easier to blame the scary black guy you've been instructed to vilify by your party (of racists) than it is to have some self awareness about the party you support, eh Mike? Oh what a difference 6 years makes.

  13. And so he uses the imagery of a noble cause for his ignoble cause. He's not funny as Dennis Miller isn't funny....Republicans don't get irony or humor--they'll laugh at anything that's mean and hurts either emotionally or physically--it's the lizard part of them. BTW, "hyperbole" is not intended to be taken seriously (i.e., "Wait an eternity"); so Klinkerschit lies because he did mean it and expected people to believe it. Hmmm, an Xtian who lies and bears false witness...who woulda thought it?

  15. You're such a liberal cliche, Tyler. If W would have been playing golf during Ferguson you would be shi--ing bricks. But because it's President Affirmative Action, you excuse. It's hilarious.

  17. Right, Mike: I'm the cliche. Not the racist, anti-social programs Republican.

What's it like living outside of reality? I assume the weather is always perfect and everyone is white, prosperous and heterosexual.

Just remember, my peers include the President and the liberal, educated elite and your peers include Klingenschmitt and Romney. Have fun with your party of hate.

  22. Mike, arguing with an avowed Republican in this day and age is like arguing with a child. But whatever, I'm sure you enjoy your own ignorance and blind faith. Have fun with that.

  23. Perhaps Mike would like a return to glory days and
Economic depression of the bush/Cheney years.

Although I prefer not to see the Dow Jones back at 7,000.
