George Michael Fell Out of Car on to Freeway at 70 MPH: Report

The Sun tabloid is reporting more details about the car accident that required George Michael to be airlifted to a hospital last week. Katherine Fox tells the paper she was driving behind Michael's car at 70 mph on the four-lane M1 freeway:

She and other drivers hit their brakes and skidded to a halt. Katherine said:

“I saw blood everywhere and a man on the ground. I thought someone had run across the road and been hit. I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph. I was on the phone to the ambulance and said, ‘You’d better come quick. This doesn’t look good’.

"George was wearing a black and gold Adidas tracksuit that was ripped all down the arm and shoulder. He had no trainers on. I grabbed one from the second lane because cars were swerving to avoid it. His sunglasses were also in the road. I could hear the crunch as cars drove over them.”

Michael was lucky to escape with his life, she said.

George Michael Airlifted to Hospital After Car Crash

Singer George Michael was involved in a car accident on the M1 motorway near St Albans, in Hertfordshire, UK yesterday, and airlifted to a hospital, the BBC reports:

A spokesman for Michael confirmed the 49-year-old had been involved in an accident, but said the singer only had "superficial cuts" and was "fine".

Michael was a passenger in a Range Rover and no other vehicles were involved, the spokesman added.

Connie Filippello said: "George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening. No third party was involved.

"We have no further comment at this time."

Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "The man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care."

Police would not comment further on the details of the accident.

George Michael Completes 'Best Dance Record I've Ever Made' for Fans Who Prayed for His Recovery

George Michael is preparing for a return to touring this September, but in the meantime has completed a record for the fans that prayed for his recovery from pneumonia last year.

Michael tweeted on Monday:

Ok my lovelies, WHITE LIGHT is done and dusted! Am I allowed to say it may be the best dance record I've ever made....! Finished it today..... :)

On April 4, Michael had tweeted:

George Michael and Boyfriend Fadi Fawaz Soak Up the Sun on Maldives Holiday: PHOTOS

George Michael's recovery from life-threatening pneumonia appears to be going well. His boyfriend Fadi Fawaz posted these photos to his Twitter from their holiday in the Maldives.

Wrote Michael on Twitter: "Hey everyone, I'm on the first real holiday I've had in many a year...sipping a cocktail on a balmy night, listening to the sea ... People, I'm excited....just finishing a ballad that I think is going to make you think my eighties self has been re-born ! ...Which I suppose it has in a way :) Even my tracheostomy scar is healing nicely in the sun, was looking a bit Bride of Chucky for a while. Spoke to doctors before I came away and they told me my recovery is way quicker than can usually be expected so I'm happy as Larry... Sun, sand, and a bit of this doesn't hurt either :) !!!"
