NRA Calls Obama an 'Elitist Hypocrite' Because His Kids Have Armed Guards and the Rest of America Doesn't: VIDEO

In a new ad that's being called political "pornography", the National Rifle Association pushes its campaign for armed guards in schools by accusing Obama of being an "elitist hypocrite" because his daughters have armed security and the rest of America's kids don't.

“Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security."

"Most Americans agree that a president's children should not be used as pawns in a political fight," Press Secretary Jay Carney said in a statement. "But to go so far as to make the safety of the president's children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly."

NY Senate Passes Landmark Gun Control Bill as Obama Prepares to Take Action Federally: VIDEO

The New York Senate has passed a landmark gun control bill that would ban assault weapons, the NYT reports:

The state Senate, controlled by a coalition of Republicans and a handful of Democrats, approved the legislative package just after 11 p.m. by a lopsided vote of 43 to 18. The Assembly, where Democrats who have been strongly supportive of gun control have an overwhelming majority, planned to vote on the measure Tuesday...

..The expanded ban on assault weapons would broaden the definition of such weapons, banning semiautomatic pistols and rifles with detachable magazines and one military-style feature, as well as semiautomatic shotguns with one military-style feature. New Yorkers who already own such guns could keep them but would be required to register them with the state.

The legislative package, which Mr. Cuomo said he believed would be “the most comprehensive package in the nation,” would ban any gun magazine that can hold over 7 rounds of ammunition — the current limit is 10 rounds. It would also require background checks of ammunition buyers and automated alerts to law enforcement of high-volume purchases.

The legislation would increase penalties for multiple crimes committed with guns, would require background checks for most private gun sales, and create a statewide gun-registration database.

President Obama is expected to announce 19 separate executive actions he could take without the approval of Congress to limit access to guns and curtail gun violence, the NYT also reports, in a separate story:

Actions the president could take on his own are likely to include imposing new limits on guns imported from overseas, compelling federal agencies to improve sharing of mental health records and directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct research on gun violence, according to those briefed on the effort.

White House aides believe Mr. Obama can also ratchet up enforcement of existing laws, including tougher prosecution of people who lie on their background checks.

Piers Morgan Invites Alex Jones, Creator of the Petition to Deport Him, on His Show So He Can Be Attacked in Person: VIDEO

Piers Morgan invites Alex Jones, the 9/11 Truther behind the White House petition seeking to deport Morgan for his anti-gun advocacy, on his show for a "proper" debate, but quickly learns that Jones doesn't know how to have one. The show quickly turns into a wrath-fest aimed at Morgan.

"1776 will commence again" if guns are taken away, Jones explodes.

"You're a hatchet man of the new world order. You're a hatchet man! And I want to say this right here. You think you're a tough guy? Have me back with a boxing ring in here. I'll wear red white and blue, and you wear your jolly roger."

Protester Interrupts NRA Press Conference: 'NRA Killing Our Kids' - VIDEO

Having said it planned to offer "meaningful contributions" to end gun violence in schools, Executive Director Wayne LaPierre spoke at a press conference on Friday morning and called for Congress to immediately appropriate money to put armed officers in every school in America. LaPierre said the NRA has 11,000 police training instructors willing to help.

LaPierre was interrupted by a protester from the activist group Code Pink, who unfurled a banner that read "NRA Killing Our Kids"and was carried out yelling the phrase.

The National School Shield program will be led by former Congressman Asa Hutchinson.

11:17 a.m. LaPierre asks: "Why is the use of a gun when it's asked to be used to protect the president or used by the police, but bad when it's used to protect children." He calls on the media to "at least admit that it's possible" that armed guards could have stopped the Newtown massacre.

11:13 a.m. LaPierre criticizes the media for getting basic facts about guns wrong. "They don't know what they are talking about. He makes the point that increased regulation of guns amounts to "dishonest thinking." He adds, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

11:09 a.m. Federal gun prosecutions have decreased by 40% to lowest levels in a decade, LaPierre notes. He criticizes media for placing the blame on gun rights advocates and failing to talk about the "callous, corrupt shadow industry" pushed by Hollywood and video game makers.
