Brazilian Television Had its First Gay Male Kiss Last Night: VIDEO

Brazil

Two men kissed for the first time on Brazilian TV on Friday in Amor à Vida, a soap opera produced by Rede Globo, the country's largest network, as the result of a campaign on social media.

The kiss took place between the show's closeted villain, Felix (Matthew Solano), who redeemed himself in the eyes of the audience and came together with Niko (Thiago Fragoso) after Felix's father suffered a stroke and they decided that their lives would be better together rather than apart.

Back in 2005, hunky soap star Bruno Gagliasso filmed a gay kiss that was supposed to have aired on the popular soap América, but the scene was cut from the broadcast.

Here's the Drunken Gay 'EastEnders' Kiss That's Ruffling a Few Feathers: VIDEO

Eastenders

A drunken gay kiss on the British soap Eastenders between characters Johnny Carter and Gary Pennant (Sam Strike and Gary Lucy) is causing a bit of controversy after dozens aired homophobic reactions on Twitter following the episode. The BBC, however, has confirmed that it only received a couple of complaints about the kiss.

Meanwhile, tonight's episode has Johnny (Strike) coming out to his father played by Danny Dyer.

Dyer, who plays Mick Carter in the BBC One soap, will showcase his previously unseen emotional side when his on-screen son Johnny (Sam Strike) reveals he is gay.

Carter had been badgering his son to make a move on Whitney, not knowing that he had shared a drunken kiss with Gary Lucy’s character Danny Pennant.

Check out a couple preview photos of the episode here:

Downton Abbey's Rob James-Collier: 'I Found It Easier' to Kiss a Man

Downton

British TV presenter Jonathan Ross spoke with Downton Abbey footman Rob James-Collier about his gay storyline on the series, and asked if he found kissing men harder than kissing women on screen.

Said James-Collier:

"I found it easier. The way I was thinking was that if you kiss a girl you worry about: 1) How big her boyfriend is; 2) Is he in the building watching and is he going to kick the s**t out of you?; and 3) What is my missus going to think of it? So we went to the BFI for a big unveiling on the cinema screen, and the missus knew it (the kiss) was coming, and we were all sitting watching it and I thought 'Nice one, she can't accuse me of anything', and the missus turned to me and said 'You've never kissed me like that'."

Chicago Cabbie Sued for Kicking Gay Couple Out of Taxi For Kissing

Cab

Back in June, we reported on a Chicago cabbie who tried to force Steven White and his boyfriend Matt McCrea from his cab on the side of the rain-drenched Kennedy Expressway after they kissed briefly in the back seat. CBS Chicago reported then:

During the ride, McCrea "leaned over to look at something on the phone and then he leaned in to kiss me," White recalls.

McCrea says it was a closed-mouth kiss that lasted all of a second. It did not go over well with their cab driver, the two men say. "He indicated that it was a public mode of transportation and we shouldn't kiss in his cab," White says. "He pulled the cab over and stopped and wanted us to get out - on the Kennedy."

Now, Lambda Legal has filed a complaint on behalf of the couple:

"A taxi-cab company, like any other business in Illinois that offers services to the public, is bound by the Illinois Human Rights Act to not discriminate based on sexual orientation, among other protected categories," said Christopher Clark, Senior Staff Attorney for Lambda Legal. "What happened to Steven and Matthew was not only hurtful and unlawful, it illustrates exactly why Illinois' citizens need the state's long-standing Human Rights Act to protect them against dangerous situations like this."

At the time, the cab driver claimed the couple was "making sex," but police found no evidence to support that claim.
