Man Makes Anti-Gay Remarks, Slashes Victim with Razor Blade in Manhattan McDonald's

Razor

Police are searching for a man seen above on surveillance footage in a McDonald's in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, MyFoxNY reports:

Police say a 22-year-old man was attacked with a razor blade inside the restaurant on West 3rd Street on Wednesday evening. Police say the suspect made anti-gay remarks to the victim at about 7 p.m.  It turned physical and then the suspect took out a blade.

He slashed the victim in the face, back, neck and elbow before running away. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and required multiple stitches for his injuries.

The suspect is black, 35-40 years old, 5'9" to 5'10" and weighs between 300-350 pounds. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS.  Police say that all calls will be kept confidential.

This particular McDonald's has been the site of many problems and fights. In March there was a plan to add off-duty police officers at the location.

This is also the McDonald's where Damian Furtch, a gay waiter, was brutally assaulted in March of 2011.

NEWS: Putin Wins, Santorum Talks, Limbaugh Is Both Loved And Hated, McDonald's Gets Weird

6f89323b44a7a1a9d8e0b423dccb
Road Putin won:

Russia's opposition has vowed to continue protests alleging widespread irregularities after a tearful Vladimir Putin claimed victory in an election that will see him return for a third term as president.

With more than 90 per cent of votes counted on Sunday night, the tally for the former spy who has dominated Russian politics for the past dozen years stood at 65 per cent. That represents a comfortable victory with no need to go into a second round of voting.

Later blaming the wind for the tears in his eyes, Mr Putin wasted no time in declaring victory, addressing thousands of Russian flag-waving supporters at a victory rally outside the Kremlin walls.

“I promised we would win. And we did win!” Mr Putin said, to cheers from his supporters. “We won an open and honest battle.”

RICK-SANTORUM-COLLEGE-1 Road The making of Santorum, a man of moral profundity:

... As [Karen Garver and Rick Santorum] made plans to marry and he decided to enter politics, she sent him to her father for advice.

Dr. Kenneth L. Garver was a Pittsburgh pediatrician who specialized in medical genetics. The patriarch of a large Roman Catholic family, he had treated patients considering abortion but was strongly opposed to it.

“We sat across the table and the whole evening we talked about this issue,” Mr. Santorum told an anti-abortion group last October. He left, he said, convinced “that there was only one place to be, from the standpoint of science as well as from the standpoint of faith.”

Road The utterances of Santorum, a man who can't keep his mouth on message:

“The Blunt amendment was broader than that,” Santorum told Fox News host Chris Wallace on Sunday. “It was a conscience clause exception that existed prior to when President Obama decided that he could impose his values on people of faith, when people of faith believe that this is a grievous moral wrong.”

Road This editorial about Rush Limbaugh's latest orgy of public awfulness gets a few things very, very wrong, but it contains at least one delightful turn of phrase:

Inadvertently, Rush also helped advance the argument from the left that Republicans are waging a war against women. After referring to Fluke as a "slut" and a "prostitute," he offered the following proposition:

"So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives ... we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

The image suggested is equally degrading to Limbaugh given his obvious familiarity with "watching," and invites unflattering speculation. To wit: It is entirely possible that Limbaugh himself never needed contraception in college, but virtue in the absence of opportunity is hardly a moral triumph.

Road ... and despite overwhelming public disapproval, misogynists and sexophobes just keep digging themselves deeper.

Road And deeper.

Five Year Prison Sentence Handed Down for Brutal Attack on Transgender Woman at McDonald's: VIDEO

Teonna Monae Brown, 19, who pleaded guilty last month to first-degree assault and a hate crime in the beating of Chrissy Lee Polis, 22 (pictured), was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday, with five years suspended, plus three years of supervised probation. The maximum sentence for Brown's crimes is 35 years.

Polis Advocates were upset by the ruling, the Baltimore Sun reports:

"The whole incident is unfortunate and demonstrates the lack of knowledge and understanding, and discrimination against transgender people," said Patrick Wojahn, board president of the Equality Maryland Foundation. "If anything, five years may have been too short of an amount of time for the attack and the amount of hatred that was shown in the incident."

Del. Joseline Pena-Melnyk agreed. "Five years is not enough for what she did. It was really horrible — nobody should do something like that to another human being," said Pena-Melnyk, who represents parts of Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties. She proposed legislation to prevent employers, creditors and others from discriminating against transgender people, but the measure failed in the 2011 General Assembly.

Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger was pleased with the sentence:

Shellenberger said that "it was very important that even though this defendant has no criminal record, that she receive substantial time in jail." He said the violence of the repeated assaults warranted it.

"I don't care who the victim is. This was not a political statement," he said.

Morrissey Clarifies Remarks Comparing Norway Massacre to McDonalds and KFC

Morrissey clarified his recent remarks comparing the Norway massacre to the murder of animals for the fast food industry, in a statement to fan site True to You:

Morrissey "The recent killings in Norway were horrific. As usual in such cases, the media give the killer exactly what he wants: worldwide fame. We aren't told the names of the people who were killed - almost as if they are not considered to be important enough, yet the media frenzy to turn the killer into a Jack The Ripper star is .... repulsive. He should be un-named, not photographed, and quietly led away. The comment I made onstage at Warsaw could be further explained this way: Millions of beings are routinely murdered every single day in order to fund profits for McDonalds and KFCruelty, but because these murders are protected by laws, we are asked to feel indifferent about the killings, and to not even dare question them. If you quite rightly feel horrified at the Norway killings, then it surely naturally follows that you feel horror at the murder of ANY innocent being. You cannot ignore animal suffering simply because animals 'are not us.'"

Watch: Hundreds Turn Out for Rally in Honor of Transgender Assault Victim Chrissy Lee Polis

Mcdonalds_rally

Hundreds turned out for a rally last night outside the Baltimore McDonald's where trans woman Chrissy Lee Polis was brutally beaten while some restaurant employees stood by and even filmed it.

Chrissy_polis The Washington Blade has a report from the rally, which was attended by several politicians, and Polis' mother:

A crowd of about 300 spectators sang “We Shall Overcome,” as politicians and activists denounced the beating that captured national media attention after it was recorded by a restaurant employee and posted to YouTube.

Several politicians in the crowd expressed surprise and gratitude for the strong turnout.

“This is truly an LGBT moment,” said Mary Washington, a lesbian member of Maryland’s House of Delegates from Baltimore City. “Our allies are here as well. I see this moment lasting and we will resume the fight to pass HB 235.”

She was referring to a transgender non-discrimination bill that was killed by the Maryland Senate just a week prior to the beating. Baltimore City Council member Carl Stokes echoed those impressed by the large turnout.
