Rush Limbaugh Says Conservatives Have Lost on Gay Marriage: 'It Is Now Inevitable' - AUDIO

Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show today that conservatives have lost on the issue of marriage, Mediaite reports.

“This issue is lost,” he said. “It is now inevitable” that gay marriage will come to pass, regardless of how the Supreme Court rules on two separate cases related to the issue.

“We lost the issue when we started allowing the word ‘marriage’ to be bastardized and redefined,” Limbaugh explained, pointing the finger at “the left,” whom he believes has attempted to co-opt the word “marriage” to go beyond its definition.

“Once you decide to modify the word marriage then the other side has won,” he lamented. “The best thing that marriage had going for it was basically what they teach you the first day in law school: If you hang on a horse the sign that says ‘Cow,’ it does not make it a cow.”

Limbaugh also claimed that conservative wishes to protect 'traditional marriage' had nothing to do with discrimination.

Lawrence O'Donnell Relishes the Feud Between Limbaugh and O'Reilly on Marriage Equality: VIDEO

Limbaugh_odonnell

Rush Limbaugh took great offense to Bill O'Reilly's characterization this week of anti-gay marriage people as "Bible thumpers" and his evolution on marriage equality, so much so that he mentioned O'Reilly's name for the first time in ages.

Lawrence O'Donnell is eating it up.

"The really funny thing about Bill O'Reilly's conversion on marriage equality is that llke Rush, he hates people who change their minds about marriage equality. He hates Bill Clinton and he hates Barack Obama for doing exactly what Bill O'Reilly has done. In the very same segment last night where Bill O'Reilly announced his change of mind about marriage equality he actually attaced Bill Clinton and Bill O'Reilly for doing exactly the same thing."

Rush Limbaugh Links Support for Gay Marriage with 'Movement to Normalize Pedophilia': AUDIO

Rush Limbaugh spent a large portion of his show on Monday suggesting there is a link between homosexuality and pedophilia in a discussion about an article in the UK Guardian newspaper.

LimbaughSaid Limbaugh:

There is an effort underway to normalize pedophilia. Yep. And it has two aspects to it. One is that sex with children doesn't hurt them. Kids like it, and so do adults, and there's nothing wrong with it. It is something... I want to take you back. I want you to remember the first time, wherever you were, that you heard about gay marriage, and I want you to try to recall your reaction -- your first gut reaction -- when you heard that some activists or somebody was trying to promote the notion of gay marriage. What was your initial reaction?

"Aw, come on. It'll never happen. That's silly. What are you talking about?"

There is a movement on to normalize pedophilia, and I guarantee you your reaction to that is probably much the same as your reaction when you first heard about gay marriage. What has happened to gay marriage? It's become normal -- and in fact, with certain people in certain demographics it's the most important issue in terms of who they vote for. So don't pooh-pooh. There's a movement to normalize pedophilia. Don't pooh-pooh it. The people behind it are serious, and you know the left as well as I do. They glom onto something and they don't let go.

Rush Limbaugh: Obama Might Have Manipulated Hurricane Data to Ruin GOP Convention

Rush Limbaugh is "not alleging conspiracies" but notes that the National Hurricane Center is under the auspices of the Commerce Department, and just might have plotted the hurricane's path in order to influence decision-making by the Republican Party regarding this week's convention, Think Progress reports.

LimbaughSaid Limbaugh:

“And I noticed that the hurricane center’s track is — and I’m not alleging conspiracies here. The hurricane center is the regime; the hurricane center is the Commerce Department...It’s the government. It’s Obama....

...Okay, 6:45 p.m. Saturday night the Republicans announce that they’re canceling Monday. At 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, everybody is still under the impression that Isaac is making a beeline for very close to Tampa. It was an hour and 15 minutes later that the eight p.m. model runs showed New Orleans. I’m alleging no conspiracy. I’m just telling you, folks, when you put this all together in this timeline, I’m telling you, it’s unbelievable."

Rachel Maddow Mocks Rush Limbaugh's 'Dark Knight Rises' Romney Conspiracy Theory: VIDEO

Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh, the head of the Republican party, floated his conspiracy theory yesterday that the villain Bane, from the new Batman flick Dark Knight Rises, is a Hollywood plot to continue bringing Mitt Romney down because it sounds like 'Bain' capital.

Maddow lets loose:

"Yes, see the villains in Batman were pre-named decades in advance in anticipation of the 2012 presidential election in which one of the candidates would have a contested affiliation with a company named Bain. That's why they named that villain Bane. The conspiracy is deep and it has decades of foresight. Also, Gone with the Wind was an early salvo of the clean energy movement."

Adds Maddow: “The modern American Right is hermetically sealed in a media universe that lets in no natural light and no air."

Rush Limbaugh Not Really Anti-Gay, Elton John Insists: VIDEO

Elton_john

Elton John provoked a lot of anger when he played for Rush Limbaugh's wedding in June 2010. He insists that Limbaugh's anti-gay persona is just a farce, according to a new interview in USA Today.

Rush_eltonJohn's hope of eroding stigmas has led him into some deeply unlikely alliances. After he agreed to perform at Limbaugh's wedding in 2010, the two men bonded over music and formed a friendship, despite Limbaugh's conservative views.

"He sends me the loveliest e-mails," John says. "What I get from Rush privately and what I get from Rush publicly are two different things. I'm just trying to break him down."

Elton is publicizing a new book, Love Is the Cure: On Life, Loss and the End of AIDS. He's doing an interview with Matt Lauer this morning on Today, which I'll add to this post when the video shows up.

UPDATE: Lauer's interview with Elton, AFTER THE JUMP...
