I mentioned this catch a couple weeks ago but here's a photo. Chances of netting a gay white lobster (actually I just made up the gay part, but it makes perfect sense to me): 1 in 100 million. Other lobster color facts — yellow lobsters are one in 30 million, blue are one in five million.
It also makes sense to me that this unusual lobster was captured off of Provincetown, historic home of outlaws, artists, and social misfits. Luckily, Whitey is going to live the rest of his days in the New England Aquarium and not find his way to a mayonnaise-encrusted toasted bun at Clem & Ursie's.
A short aside that illustrates the lengths I will go to amuse myself: When I lived in Provincetown the internet provider was capecod.net. They had a rule that email addresses had to start with your first initial and your last name. I told them that my name was Larry Obsterina so I could have the email address lobsterina @ capecod.net. Pretty sneaky sis.
