Last week I wrote about Abel Tapia, a Colorado state senator who spoke up during debate about a bill in the Colorado legislature regarding discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation.
I lauded him then for speaking up about his gay son and I’ll laud him again because I just received an email from a Towleroad reader in Texas which says:
“Now, you posted a story on 5/18 about a speech made by Colorado Senator Abel Tapia. I visited his site and sent him an email thanking him for his courage and conviction, as did my husband and most of our friends. This morning, all of us received personal phone calls from him thanking us for our support and promising to continue to fight the good fight. I had mentioned that I lived in Texas and he has now faxed me pages and pages of names and numbers of pro-gay rep’s and senators in my state. This guys is truly amazing! First he stands up to the ultra-conservative’s in Colorado, and now he’s helping us poor Texas boys take a stand on our own front!”
Now that’s refreshing.
