Attitude magazine’s owner, Remnant Media, is facing financial pressure, and may try to sell the magazine to pay down debt, reports the Guardian. The owner of Gay Times, another UK title, is said to be eyeing the title although the co-founder of Remnant, Simon Robinson, denies the reports: “We have had no offers for Attitude and have no plans to sell it.”
The disappearance of the magazine would leave a gaping hole in the gay newsstand. The British press has always been able to go one step further in the irreverence of their editorial than the American press, so Attitude has long been a breath of fresh air on U.S. newsstands, particularly their annual Naked” issue which gave more mainstream celebrities the opportunity to show off a bit of flesh.
Remnant Media also owns a large stable of porn magazines and the Guardian reports that the waning profitability of print porn is partly to blame.
