In this new trailer for the upcoming film Capote, Philip Seymour Hoffman, as the status-seeking writer, says, “Since I was a child folks have thought they had me pegged because of the way I talked. They’re always wrong.”
In fact, it’s the voice which is the first thing you notice about Hoffman’s Capote, and while this film has been on my list for some time, seeing the trailer made me all the more excited. From these brief glimpses, Hoffman seems to have found a role that suits him perfectly. The film is based on Capote’s relationship with killer Perry Smith as he wrote In Cold Blood, the “nonfiction novel” that would become the most successful of his career.
