NYPD denies club crackdown was targeting gays: “The Police Department released details last night on 13 arrests relating to drug sales inside clubs, including these charges: At Avalon, a well-known club at 47 West 20th Street, two 23-year-old bartenders sold drugs to undercover detectives; two other bartenders sold the drug Ecstasy to undercover detectives inside another club, Deep, at 16 West 22nd Street. Nine other people were arrested for selling drugs at a third club, Spirit, at 530 West 27th Street.”
