Here’s a follow-up to some art world news from last November. I posted about a JMW Turner painting set to go on the auction block this month that experts predicted might fetch a record price. Well, they were right. Turner’s “Giudecca, La Donna della Salute and San Giorgio” sold for nearly $36 million dollars to Las Vegas casino owner and collector Steve Wynn yesterday at Christie’s in New York, setting a record for a British painting.
