Dixie Landers, a drag queen from Ottawa, Canada, who was assaulted in May, made a return to the stage on Wednesday to a packed crowd at Helsinki Lounge, Xtra reports.
Landers, aka Michael Marcil, was beaten following a show at the Centretown Pub on May 26, and found at the bottom of a flight of stairs. Swelling in the brain and thrombosis caused Marcil to be confined to a wheelchair for weeks during recovery. In late June, two people were arrested for the assault and had been scheduled to appear in court yesterday.
As you can see, Landers received a warm welcome.
