Singing, strumming, slapstick duo Garfunkel (Riki Lindhome) and Oates (Kate Micucci) recently released a music video that tells gay marriage haters, "you've lost the fight." Feels apropos, no? The final bridge to their song "Rainbow Connection" is a smack in the face to equality opponents everywhere:
A rainbow doesn't choose to be a rainbow,
It just shines in the sky,
And there's nothing to debate,
And there's nothing to deny.
Love might be a privilege,
But marriage is right,
So to all of you detractors
Who don't know you've lost the fight,
To all of you in the darkness
We're here turning on the lights.
The funny ladies dedicated the video for the song to "all those people that are not able to view this video from their country, and are gay/friendly." Though bearing the same title as the famous song from The Muppet Movie, Garfunkel & Oates' version is not a cover. The presence of puppets in the video at least suggests, however, that the title is a nod to that well-known tune.
