A few weeks ago, when I first stumbled upon the names of local favorite Jacques Renault and British producer The Emperor Machine together, I could tell something great was on the way. Luckily for us, the wait is over and their work together is out. Hear the snippet of their new track below, and head to XLR8R for a free stream of the full EP.
Jacques Renault feat. The Emperor Machine: ‘I Like It'
The collaborative track, 'I Like It,' is the opener of Jacques Renault's brand new EP, Out of Sync, which releases next week. It combines the house grooves from Jacques' production with the outstanding analog synth work of Andy Meecham, the man behind The Emperor Machine and member of Chicken Lips. The result is a powerhouse track for late night moments on the dancefloor.
More hot new tracks, AFTER THE JUMP…
Londoner producers PJU and Josh Caffe worked alongside Azari & III's Cedric and house legend soulful vocalist Robert Owens to deliver an infectious record called ‘Give It To Me,' which features a strong Chicago house influence.
Mysterious artist Deejay Deer, who claims to be the first forest dwelling animal to use the prefix ‘Deejay,' released this week their debut EP Natur, including the uplifting piano/synth monster-track ‘Natural.'
Dave Hargadon's debut solo work is out now on Land of Dance records with four instrumental tracks inspired by italo-disco and acid house, ranging from more chilled, mid-tempo songs to late night hits. On ‘1105,' the trippy synths mixed with a heavy bassline make for the highlights in the release.
On the new disco side, this week saw the release of LeSale's In Command EP on Luvshack records, which features 4 original tracks and a remix by aforementioned New York producer Jacques Renault. The title track's piano riffs, strings and funky bass are graced with the vocal work of Mavin (Manhooker/Unterton). Click here to listen to the full release.
Lastly, make sure to check out this exclusive live mix by Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin of Mister Saturday Night & Mister Sunday on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space from earlier this week. This coming Sunday will be the last outdoor edition of Mister Sunday this season. If you are in NYC, we highly recommend being there.
OCCUPY THE DISCO (OXD) curates and recommends music events to the gay community in NYC—in an effort to move the focus of the nightlife scene beyond the promoter and venue and to the music itself. OXD's goal is to educate, entertain, engage and empower the gay audience to reclaim their ability to question and experience the unknown. The OXD Mirror will serve to showcase tunes that are definitely off-the-beaten-path but rightfully deserve the attention of the gay ear.
