Artist Michael Grab works in stone to create some amazing abstract sculptures. Rather than carving in marble, he works exclusively with found stones and rocks that he then arranges into some unbelievable towers and arches that are held together purely by gravity and impeccable balance, including some jaw-dropping piles resting serenely amidst rapids.
A plausible reaction would be to assume that during the time-lapse montages he used some form of glue or tape to hold everything together. That theory falls flat later in the video when Grab, not unlike Tibetan monks and their sand mandalas, completely destroys his sculptures with the removal of a single stone…or by chucking a rock at the sculpture from offscreen.
There's a philosophical message somewhere in all of that.
