MSNBC commentator and author Janet Mock interviewed transgender icon Laverne Cox at the White House Correspondents' Dinner asking her thoughts about Bruce Jenner's interview with Diane Sawyer Friday night.
Cox responded that she felt viewers tuned in to see a 'spectacle,' but instead saw a "profoundly nuanced, complicated, beautiful human being."
Although Cox applauded the way ABC conducted the interview, she added that Jenner's story is just 'one story' and that even Cox's visibility didn't save trans youth like Leelah Alcorn's life and urged for structural and policy change to better trans people's lives.
