News outlet VICE, known for its investigative journalism, has just debuted a three part documentary that takes a look at Truvada and its use as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent the transmission of HIV. The drug has long been controversial, and yet is considered by many to be the silver bullet that could end the HIV-AIDS epidemic that began over 30 years ago. With HIV transmission rates nearly unchanged in those same 30 years, immunologists and activists are looking to Truvada with hopeful eyes.
