To commemorate the recent Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide, leading online travel site Orbitz has launched a new campaign and contest, SNAP for Equality. All you need to do to enter is share a photo or video of yourself on Twitter celebrating the historic victory. Those who enter the contest have the chance to win a first-class vacation to one of the world’s top marriage equality destinations.
Plus, for every photo and video posted on Twitter with the hashtag #OrbitzEqualityContest, Orbitz will make a donation to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and The Trevor Project.
Orbitz celebrating our victory at the Supreme Court should come as no surprise given the company’s long history of supporting the LGBT community. The company employs many LGBT employees and was the first online travel company to create a micro-travel site dedicated to LGBT travel. Orbitz also signed on to an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to rule in favor of marriage equality. They’ve maintained a perfect score on HRC’s Corporate Equality index for 8 consecutive years, won HRC’s Corporate Equality Award and also received two GLAAD Awards for LGBT-inclusive advertising.
So how do you enter the SNAP for Equality contest? Follow these steps below:
- Follow @Orbitz on Twitter
- Take a “SNAP for Equality.” Both photos and videos of 15 seconds or less are welcome. Photos and videos should demonstrate a celebration of equality. You can check out these examples.
- Tweet your “SNAP for Equality” using the hashtag #OrbitzEqualityContest. Tag a friend and if your photo or video wins, you will get a bonus first class flight in the U.S.
- Also, make sure to include orbitz.com/equality in your tweet.
The contest is judged by an expert panel. Each photo is scored based on the following criteria: 30% –creativity; 30% — fit to contest theme; 30% — virality; 10% — quality.
While both photos and videos will win prizes, the video winners win big.
The video grand prize gives the winner their choice of either: a trip for two that includes business class roundtrip tickets to anywhere in Europe where marriage equality is legal plus a three-night hotel stay; or, a trip for four that includes first class roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the U.S. with marriage equality (in other words–everywhere in the US since June 26!) plus a three-night hotel stay.
The grand prize photo winner will receive a trip for two that includes first class roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the U.S. plus a three-night hotel stay.
The contest is live now through August 31 so scower through your favorite snaps and videos–or make new ones!–and share your celebration of equality on Twitter.
