Ring-wing-nut pastor and former presidential candidate Pat Robertson told a viewer that he should not allow his gay grandson to bring a “friend” to their family's Thanksgiving dinner because it would condone his “lifestyle” and ruin any chances of him “coming out of that.”
As Right Wing Watch reports, Robertson was responding to a question sent in by the viewer who told his grandson he could not invite his “sexual partners” into their home but wanted Pat to weigh in on whether he made the right choice.
Said Robertson,
“I just believe that you're taking the right stand. Otherwise you become an enabler,” he said, “and you're condoning that. The chances are there's a real good chance that he might come out of that so-called lifestyle, but if you're going along with it, he says, ‘Well, mom likes it, so it's okay.'”
Robertson also suggested that the gay grandson bringing a friend to Thanksgiving dinner would be akin to him bringing a stripper:
“He's trying to get you to affirmatively accept what he's doing,” Robertson continued. “He's trying to force you to do something. It's outrageous that he would do that, but that's what's happening … Let's push people to see how far they'll bend and what you're doing is exactly right, saying, ‘I'm not going to let it happen.'”
But what if the “friend” were a sexual partner and a stripper, Pat?
