As part of our ongoing TowleREAD series, we’re featuring some of our favorite LGBT audiobooks available on Audible.com. Today, we’re turning to author and late night host Andy Cohen and his book The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year.
Inspired by the diaries of another famous Andy (Warhol, that is), Cohen’s book takes a look at his hilarious and at times awkward encounters with the celebrities that populate his world, his foray into dating apps, and his adopting a rescue pup named Wacha.
Cohen spoke with Towleroad about his book and the two excerpts that he’s sharing with us, where he writes about Tinder, a much- discussed Watch What Happens Live! segment involving Shaquille O’Neal’s dick, and his journey to adopting a dog, respectively.
Cohen told us:
“I loved writing this book. It’s inspired by THE ANDY WARHOL DIARIES, and like it, is a pop culture time capsule about a year in my life. There’s a lot of name dropping, and I love taking the reader behind the scenes of my show and adventures in Manhattan. It’s also a love story about me and my dog, Wacha. I rescued him two years ago, but he’s changed my life tremendously. I’ve gotten to know a lot more about him since I got him, namely that I think he was pretty badly abused and how that plays out in our day to day lives. He takes a little bit more of my heart every day.
“Speaking of my heart, yes I’m still on Tinder but i’m not as aggressive on it as I was when I was writing the book, which reminds me to get swiping again. It’s getting cold out!”
As part of its sponsorship of TowleREAD, Audible is offering a free download of Andy Cohen’s The Andy Cohen Diaries at Audible.com with a 30-day trial membership for Towleroad readers.
