Out Australian singer-songwriter Brendan Maclean released a new single and video called “Hugs Not Drugs (or Both)” co-written with Ball Park Music’s Sam Cormack.
Said Maclean about the track:
“Not every storyline with a gay character needs to end with someone dying of AIDS or them having sex. We can be friends, that’s OK. The message behind the song and video for Hugs is we’re all consenting adults, we just have to look after each other. Maybe I haven’t been brave enough to say something like that before. My songs went on Twitter and YouTube and got forgotten. Maybe I’ve finally said something worth remembering?”
