Stephen Colbert trashed Ivanka Trump last night, saying “she became admirably close to displaying empathy” with her remarks about immigrant family separations.
“Ivanka assures us that her dad stealing children is giving her the feels,” said Colbert sarcastically. “Just imagine how upset she'll be when the feds drag away Don Jr.”
Colbert also commented on Ivanka's remarks on her father's attacks on journalism, saying “no, I do not” agree that the press is the enemy of the people, and Trump's Twitter defense of those remarks:
They asked my daughter Ivanka whether or not the media is the enemy of the people. She correctly said no. It is the FAKE NEWS, which is a large percentage of the media, that is the enemy of the people!

“That clears it up. Trump supporters, when you see the media at the next rally, make sure you violently threaten only a large percentage of them.”
Colbert also chortled when Ivanka claimed that the “high point” of her job was “getting out of Washington.”
Quipped Colbert: “The high point of your job is leaving your job? What a coincidence. That's my high point of your job too.”
After Ivanka claimed that “tax reform” was really the “high point” of her job, Colbert replied, You helped Republicans pass tax reform the way my nephew helps me mow the lawn with his bubble mower. Really? What did you do? What do you do?”
