The D.C. Beat

OfficerIt's nice to see city government finally wising up to the need for educating its law enforcement on the LGBT community, but the more interesting parts of this lengthy Washington Post profile on Brett Parson and the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit of the D.C. Police illustrate how gaydar assists in CSI:

"When he arrived, a homicide detective was standing over a slightly decomposing body. Walking across the orderly apartment, Parson could just feel it. The victim had to be gay. There weren't the tell-tale signs, the photos, books or commemorative coffee cups from gay resort towns, but the lack of personal details made Parson think the victim led a secret life, and secret lives often lead to high-risk behavior." (thanks Matt)

  1. Thanks for posting this. Brett is a friend of mine here in DC and he has done some really wonderful things for our community. If we had it, I would say that he should get the Purple Heart of Bravery from our community. Seeing a blurb about him on your site (which I tend to read daily) is a great tribute to him, cause it gets his name out there! You Rock.
