road.jpg Iraqi Shiite cleric: Kill gays and lesbians "in the worst, most severe way."
Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has issued a fatwa to his followers urging them to kill homosexuals and Sunni Muslims. Sistani's Badr militants reportedly use, among other tactics, internet chat rooms to entrap gay men. "They arrange a date, and then beat and kill the victim," reports an exiled Iraqi now living in London. "Our sources inside Iraq report the murders of the following gay and bisexual men. All the killings bear the hallmarks of the execution-style murders for which the Badr organization is notorious. These killings are just the ones we have been able to get details about. They are the tip of an iceberg of religious-motivated summary executions. Gay Iraqis are living in fear of discovery and murder."

Great news! So our boys and girls are putting their lives in danger to defend these people.

Thank you Mr. President you are a leader of great vision, thank you for your leadership in transforming the middle east to a region of peace and stablity and helping to assist the regions progress into the modern democratic world.

It's too bad the GOP made impeachment into a joke a back in the late 90's.

I have never had such hatred in my heart for anyone like I have for this president it is so unlike me. I weep for my country and it's future.

I'm right there with you Donald.

Guess that's "Mission Accomplished" for our Dear Leader.

Posted by: Glenn | Mar 15, 2006 6:50:30 PM

Dear Leader? Don't you mean Fearless Leader? I keep expecting to see Mr Big, Boris and Natasha appearing in the background at White House functions.

I guess when the Catholic Charities are exempted from the Mass. Anti-Discrimination laws, and the bishops running things decide that good Catholics shouldn't adopt children not of their race, that will be ok with everybody too right?

Forget the leakers, let's crack down on the gays

Security clearances were very much in the news last year as Democrats tried, unsuccessfully, to get Karl Rove's revoked after it became clear that he had leaked Valerie Plame's identity to several reporters. But there was another security clearance story out there that didn't get so much attention: While the rest of us were worried about leaks from the White House, the White House was apparently worrying about the security risk posed by . . . homosexuals.

As the Associated Press reports, George W. Bush signed off in December on language changes in the rules for security clearances that sure seem aimed at making it easier for the government to deny clearances to gay men and lesbians. The old rules said that sexual orientation "may not be used as a basis for or a disqualifying factor in determining a person's eligibility for a security clearance." Under the new rules, a security clearance cannot be denied "solely" on the basis of sexual orientation.

A spokesman for the National Security Council tells the AP that the language change "was not intended to alter the way sexual orientation is treated." But if that's the case, why was the language changed? If the White House has an answer for that question, it's not in the AP report.

Gay advocacy groups apparently discovered the language change in a document distributed on Dec. 29, without any public fanfare, by National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley. So far as we know, Hadley isn't gay -- he's married with two kids -- but maybe he shouldn't have a security clearance anyway; it has been suggested that Hadley was the administration official who leaked Valerie Plame's identity to Bob Woodward and Robert Novak.

I've said it before on this site, and I'll say it again-- Islam is by far the greatest threat to homosexuality that we will ever see in our lifetime. And at the rate Islam is growing throughout the world, we really need to wake up and take notice of this danger.

robert........LOL...xtians are just as dangerous....and orthedox jews to boot. Those attacking gays in america and britan are xtian (I haven't heard of 1 single muslim basher in america yet)

all 3 religions are dangerous to us gays and all 3 need to be tossed onto the trash-heap of history

FYI...in debating xtians and orthedox jews...bring up the 2 Books of Samuel that detail King David's love of jonathan.

1) David fell upon jonathan and kissed him till he became large (some translations say exceeded)

2) upon the death of Jonathan ,David said "......your love was greater than a woman's" (that 1 always gets the xtians )

Do not forget that David found favor in the eyes of God...especialy when he stripped down to his loin cloth (underware) took up a tamborine, and danced before the ark of the Lord (sounds like a big old gay pride parade to me)

JimmyBoyo,

In the true bible, the relationship between King David and Jonathan is much, much more than even you have described. The entire purpose for Saul sending his daughters to seduce David was to try to woo him away from Jonathan and then, consequently, bring him into his family through the marriage to one of his daughters. When this plan of Saul's fails, he accepts that David and Jonathan are "twain". You can read all about this in further detail (if you're interested) at ReligiousTolerance.org, I've provided the link:

Even Bush and his team of post-911 fear mongers can't stir up enough paranoia to convince the american public that we are in danger of being over run by extremist muslims.

Posted by: Chad Hanging | Mar 15, 2006 9:39:26 PM

thanks robert in weho

i actualy know those parts as well, but just went with quickest and easiest things to mention.

There is even more than what you and i have mentioned......I wish i was a Hollywood producer...i would do a

"David loved Jonathan" movie ....hint hint hint anyone connected to hollywood reading this board. LOL I want my 10% cut though.......anyway; with the success of brokeback it would rake in the bucks and stir up a bunch of controversy because the original hebrew is so explicit about David and jonathan's love

thanks for the link, i haven't checked it out before.

Posted by: jimmyboyo | Mar 15, 2006 9:50:14 PM

PS

Chad...yeah

My first thought was

"Perfect. What perfect propaganda. How convinient. Stir up the gays that are a big contributer to dem party. Stir up the gays to say ok...your f up in iraq isn't so bad"

if you notice, it is a single guy based in London. No speaches or whatever broadcast by Sadir in iraq saying such.

I seriously have my doubts on the validity of it.

Posted by: jimmyboyo | Mar 15, 2006 9:52:50 PM

PSS

LOL, sorry

back to the David Loved Jonathan

The original hebrew litteraly states that David became large when kissing Jonathan.

BECAME LARGE...........Hello!!!!!!!!bible thumpers

How does a man grow larger when kissing another man???

Only 1 way, and it is not in height

LOL

The "new" strategy, that is, to remove the right of adoption to gay couples - often the first recourse before surrogacy for male couples, is actually the "oldest" weapon in the anti-gay arsenal of the theocon/neocon.

It should be noted that when the less-than-marriage rights were extended first in Scandanavia, the right wing knew that this provision in the law - denial of gay adoptions - would be the cost of passing the legislation. It worked, and that was over a quarter century ago.

When marriage finally passed in the Netherlands and Belgium, the right wing again resurrected this provision - and the cost of marriage was denial of gay adoptions. The second canard was of course was denying marriage to a couple without one being a Dutch or Belgian subject.

Canada was our first victory, and we pushed and won that right. We also extended marriage to all throughout the world. Spain followed suit.

This last year, Belgium and the Netherlands were able to delete the anti-adoption provision, although the limitation of marriage to citizens and countries that also provide same-sex marriage is still law.

It is, of course, the strategy used by the theocons in the ongoing Vatican-led strategies of the allegedly gay and sadly self-loathing Fuhrerpapen and their Curia.

It is also my supposition that same-sex couple adoption will be the cause celebre of the 2006 elections for the GOP in the States. The issue has legs and will resonate within the right wing core constituency.

Pornography, Paedophilia and Prostitution- are the mantras of those whose sins are world destruction and devastation. In fact the three "P's" are associated with heterosexual behaviour with plurality statistics.

The Moral Wrong approve of capital punishment. They approve of the use of nuclear weaponry. They oppose abortion but have no problem with the reality of the fact that one in every two children in the USA live below the poverty line. This, while BILLIONS of dollars are spent DAILY in securing the US dollar ascendancy in the Middle East over the Eurodollar and eventually the Yuan.

Yes, mammon is the true god of the neocon and the theocon is his shill in the process.

>>Gay Iraqis are living in fear of discovery and murder."

Yes, and it's all part of George Bush's plan to overthrow all the world governments by torturing and killing Gay Iraqis. We should pull out troops out now before they can expose the entire war as a sham.

LOL, LOL, LOL

The crap some people will believe.

Posted by: Jay Croce | Mar 16, 2006 1:19:24 AM

I don't think this story is funny at all, and certainly not deserving of repeated "LOL"s. We might not agree with the politics of some of our fellow readers, but let's try to keep our eyes on the primary topic... these guys are getting killed at the urging of some freak cleric... there but for the grace of God go all of us...

Posted by: Brian | Mar 16, 2006 5:10:12 AM

Jay Croce - What do you not believe - the existence of Sharia law in the 21st century with its death sentences, or do you not believe that gay men are indeed targetted for murder?

Sharia Law has its counterpart in the Judao-Christian Holiness Code. Same words, same sentences....and yet these proscriptions are in "diessitude" theologically and theocratically. Unless, of course, we have Hitlers and Stalins who have the power to turn those "Holy Laws" into the reality of concentration camps and ovens.

You probably discredit the Holocaust or the reality of Paragraph 175 and its victims??
You also probably believe that the Purple Triangle was the product of our Betsey Ross who designed our flag in Homemaking Class.

Posted by: Raymond | Mar 16, 2006 6:12:15 AM

Why are you guys acting like this is something new in Iraq?

Gay people have always been persecuted in Islamic cultures, even the more sectarian ones.

In fact, there's a dispute among different sects trying to interpretting what the Koran says about homosexuals-- whether the correct punishment is stoning or being pushed off a cliff (or something like that).

Posted by: huh@huh.com | Mar 16, 2006 10:03:30 AM

That doesn't sound like Sistani at all, sistani has preached nonviolece since the begiining and has fought to keep religion out of the gov't Your talking about Sadr he's the one with the militia and who issues death fatwas all the time. They need to do some fact checking.
but almost all of the islamic countries except Afganistan are pretty much against gays. Though you can commit sodomy your just not suppose to like it.

Posted by: Tim | Mar 16, 2006 10:08:13 AM

SISTANI WAS NOMINATED FOR A NOBEL PEACE PRIZE in 2005.

WTF?

"In fact, sodomites should be killed in the worst manner possible."
