Anderson Cooper's Guilty Pleasures

In this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, Anderson unloads to Dave Karger about, among other more serious topics, his television viewing habits...
"I TiVo a lot of shows on MTV—stuff like My Super Sweet 16 that's jaw-dropping and mind-numbing—and I'll watch it on weekends. Now I like Tiara Girls. Oh, my God. On the second season of Super Sweet 16, all the really horrible girls had seen the first season and were trying to top them in horribleness. On Tiara Girls, there's a fresh level of horror."
OMG!!! LOL. BRB...

I saw him briefly on Regis and Kelly before I left for a late day to work. He was a riot with the dorkiest laugh. It was hilarious how awkward it would get when Kelly would talk about crushing on him.

Is admitting to watching Tiara Girls the same thing as coming out?

I have a hard time believing that Cooper would actually allow himself to be quoted with phrases "like" and "Oh, my God", but he is human.
It is funny how he stays so very adament about his "neutral" position as a credible journalist, but juxtaposes that to moments like this. To me, he's just the cutest dork.

Why doesn't he just say I like to suck big d****? God, I want him so bad.

What is really amazing is that no one asks him the million dollar question..are you gay or do you have a boyfriend??

What is "BRB"?

BRB = Be Right Back.

Haven't we moved past the point where we demand all gays and lesbians in the public wearing placards declaring their sexuality? God, leave the man alone! I think outing would only be appropriate if he were making homophobic comments, or campaigning for legal measures against the community. And, where did this "power bottom" urban legend come from? Or, is it just wishful thinking???

BeneDICK Arnold. Fuck him, and not in the good way.

I was wondering what was taking Leland so long to post in. After all A. C. won't wear a name tag that reads I SUCK COCK so therefore in Leland's view of a perfect world A C deserves to be called a name and insulted.
I am glad I don't live by Leland's standards of what is correct in this world. I think I would be a sad and bitter person and if that were added to my natural awkwardness it would be quite tragic.

while i totally respect Anderson Cooper's right to privacy -- I also can see the incredible benefit to a very well known public figure fessing up & getting real with America & the world.
What a wonderful role model we could have in this man

Yes Shirley!!
The argument that straight people don't go around telling people they are straight is utterly ridiculous as the pics of their spouses on their desks and tales of the weekend do all the talking. Meanwhile the gays don't talk about anything personal at work because "it's nobody's business." Bullshit.
I do not understand why people equate admitting to being gay with walking around with a placard or jumping on a soapbox.

While I don't agree with Donald or Leland entirely, I do find it hard to accept that AC is getting away with airing all his family's "dirty laundry," especially the suicide of his brother about which he always previously refused to speak, but yet no mention about any love life. If this were someother striaght celebrity, half the book would be about the spouse/relationships, and if it weren't, all would be aflutter about what the author left out. AC may be cute, etc., and sure I'd like to meet him as he leads an interesting life, but I think that once he decided to write this book, he legitimately could not leave out any part of his life, including Julio or whatever his name is.
So a pox on AC for being a coward. Not for not putting on a rainbow sash and struting around Splash or El Mirage, but for leaving out key bits of who he is, some might say even the most important part of who he is. You don't write an autobiography and leave out the interesting bits.

Andy is a dope. I hope a studio light falls on his head.

Donald: I share your amazement at Leland's reticence. I would think, though, that Leland would totally approve of Mr. Cooper: There's not a single thing about him that's effeminate, faggish or stereotypical...oops...I just read what Mr. Cooper said. No wonder Leland's having a kitten. The guy's a raving queen whose flamboyance is an affront to gay men everywhere.

I wish you people would spend as much time discussing the gays in the RNC, on Republican Congressional staffs as you do A.C, or Jakey G.
There's something mean-spirited & bitter about these threads.

Whatever Anderson's sexual preference is, as a public figure, he has accepted certain responsibilities par his occupation, even though it may be unwanted.
No one is free. If you want to be free, go to an island and isolate yourself from society. To all those bickering whether he should come out or not, ask of yourself if you can live up to such demands from complete strangers. To Anderson who thinks that not mentioning to people about Cesar, does right to your relationship and to your brothers and sisters that look up to you for inspiration, shame on you. And to everybody commenting rudeness on this, get a life.

MY take on AC? AC knows we know, and is having fun by teasing us.... And while others maybe offended that AC doesn't wear a "I'ma big fag..." t-shirt on national TV, I respect that AC doesn't attempt to hide or mislead us with beards and super-model dating on Page Six; unlike some other "gay celebrities". While we might like to know who he's been cuddling with, do we need to know? If we do, then we have no yet reached to point where it doesn't make any difference. I'd like to think that maybe we have reached the maturity that we don't need to know.

Belive me, when the RNC or Republican legislators get staff members as hot as Messrs. Cooper and Gyllenhaal, I'll be happy to queer all over them.

I was surprised to see the acknowledgement of "Julio" aka Cesar in Anderson's book. He's never mentioned his name ONCE. For those people who know who Julio/Cesar is, it's quite a revelation.
Posted by: Mark | May 31, 2006 4:17:39 PM
So who the heck is he? Or is this some marketing ploy to get me to buy the book?
Posted by: JT | May 31, 2006 5:05:32 PM
Is there a feeling that you're being out stops you from acheiving the same success he has? Do you wish you had the anonymity?
Posted by: Anonymous | May 31, 2006 5:12:34 PM
Julio/Cesar, AC's long-rumored, mysterious bf.

Anderson's SO serious on 360. The thought of him getting off on ridiculous shows like Super Sweet and Tiara Girls is kind of endearing.
