Man Arrested in Homophobic Rocky Horror Attack
A group of men and women in drag on their way to a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show became the target of a violent bigot over the weekend in Cambridge, England. The attacker, 23-year-old Kelvin Stevens, was apparently offended by their dress, according to the Cambridge Evening News.
"As he passed the group of men and women, dressed in the fishnet tights, suspenders and high heels traditionally worn by audience members at the popular musical, he called them 'a load of fags' prompting a heated argument. Then, as pushes were exchanged, Stevens launched a ferocious attack, head-butting and punching Barry Giles, 23, who was at a distinct disadvantage, tottering in stiletto heels with a green feather boa around his neck. The fight sprawled into the street, with Stevens landing several punches on Mr Giles, who is from Hampshire, as the 23-year-old gamely attempted to fend him off and his female companions tried desperately to intervene. And, in the true spirit of the saucy musical, the feather boa Mr Giles was wearing stayed firmly round his neck throughout the attack, which happened on Monday night."
Stevens' attack was caught on closed circuit cameras monitoring the neighborhood. Police arrested him in a local nightclub and he confessed in court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile in Iraq...

I understand the benefits, such as the ability to quickly apprehend the perpetrator in this case, but I really dislike those recording cams all over London.

Luke - Make up your mind and decide where you stand. If you feel that your GB civil liberties are at stake, well you're ten years too late matey (and if you're writing from afar them it doesn't even matter to you does it now?) The majority of us here in the UK recognize the good value CCTV brings in crime solving, sadly sometimes after the fact but in most cases the perp is caught and off the streets. Like this cretan Kevin Stevens will be shortly. Meanwhile in Iraq indeed.

I m sick and tired of reading about gay men being beaten up by straight guys.I m gay and proud of it but I know how to defend myself. The last time a straight guy called me a fag,he went home with a black eye.Pity that most gay guys can t throw a punch and can only whine about it.Sorry but I don t think we should play the victim all the time.Gay people should learn to defend themselves by using their fists.
I know my opinion is controversial and I m aware of it but Im just angry about hearing of gay men being beaten up by homophobic thugs. For once,I d like to read about a gay man who was able to fend himself and throw a few punches. We might be gay,but we re still men,are nt we?

Those people don't look like they're helping all that much.
Boa guy needs to find better friends.

Toby, at the very least his friends should have done something to protect him. Maybe they're reluctant to defend themselves because of all those cameras.

I work in a casino as a Freddie Mercury tribute artist. I was told the other day not to wear my feather boa, because he thought Freddie would have never worn that... I was a little pissed. No one messes with my feather boa!!!
