News: Patrick Dempsey, Heimlich AIDS Cure, Paris Hilton, Twins

road.jpg Paris Hilton sends prison plea to the public: "During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience...I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world."

road.jpg Inventor of Heimlich maneuver floats new theory: cure AIDS by injecting patients with malaria. "'We allow the malaria to run for three weeks, and then we cure it,' says Dr. Heimlich, now 87 years-old. In a study commissioned by Dr. Heimlich, eight human subjects have already been injected with a form of malaria in China in the 1990s, and he is now involved with a research project involving AIDS patients in Ethiopia who are initially left untreated for malaria with available medicines. 'It gives off substances that strengthen their immune systems,' says Dr. Heimlich. But leading AIDS researchers and medical ethicists say they are appalled. 'It is scientifically unsound, and I think it would be ethically questionable,' said Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health, who has been seeking a cure for AIDS since it was first identified in the 1980s."

road.jpg Moscow Gay Pride organizer Nikolay Alexeyev fined 1,000 rubles: "The court session looked like a farce. The judge refused to admit photo and video evidence proving that we had not disturbed law and order." Background...

road.jpg Most-ever politicians march in Albany Gay Pride as legislature considers gay marriage measure: " Thirty-five groups and about 300 marchers participated in Sunday's parade, which was sponsored by the Capital District Gay and Lesbian Community Council. Keith Hornbrook, executive director of the Council, said it was the biggest parade yet, drawing marchers from Glens Falls, New Paltz and Bennington, Vt. The rally at Washington Park after the parade was attended by Mayor Jerry Jennings and six other politicians -- the most ever, Hornbrook said."

  3. On the day that Sherriff Lee Baca released Paris Hilton to serve the remainder of her sentence in her house in the Hollywood Hills, I decided to walk by her place to see what was going on (she lives just around the corner from me). What I noticed immediately (well, after noticing the hordes of media, paparazzi and policemen) was a yellow ribbon attached to Paris' front gate. On either side of the yellow ribbon was an American flag. At first I thought it was placed there in a silly attempt to communicate Paris' belief that the American judicial system had functioned properly by sending her home from an unjust sentence. I asked one of the paprazzi about it, and he told me she'd had it on her front gate for several months.

So apparently, Paris is supportive of the troops. Does this mean she might also be a Republican and in agreement with the war? Or is she simply sending the soldiers a message of support hoping they'll all come, ahem, 'visit her' upon their return?

  5. Remember, Derrick: keep profanity in the bedroom where it belongs. Very cute admission on your part though...

  6. I can totally see John F. Kennedy Jr and Madonna checking into a 'cheap, dinky motel'. Totally. Makes all the sense in the world.

  8. I'm tired of all the celebs who use the media to their own advantage and promotion and then when it doensn't favor them, they cry foul. Paris is just using the media to make her plea about the media having better things to do. Hmmmm? Paris, Just serve your sentence with dignity like Martha or Leona and shut up already.

  10. Andy, the last article you mentioned is actually about world's first twin born to two different women on the same day. The article stated that there has been such birth, but 16 days apart.

    And they are not identical.

But whatever, I still love you. :)

  11. Mr. Brickman: JFK Jr. is not a straight man. He's a corpse. I don't know if you're gay or not. If you are, then you have a serious issue with guilt about being gay. Try assuming that every person you hear about is gay unless proven otherwise. That might help you get over yourself.

The important stuff is the Anderson Cooper twin. Wow! I love that Mr. Cooper anyway and to see his clone and his eight inches really is inspiring. Now I know why CNN has such large desks for the news anchors.

  12. So Paris is playing the war card? Did I miss the news that she enlisted before this? No? STFU Paris, don't shame the media for having a feeding frenzy on you when you encourage such behavior before. After jail, maybe you should donate lots and lots of money to the vets and the injured who are not being taken care of.
