Gay Lawyer Accuses Judge of Homophobia Over "Flamboyant" Tag

The NY Post reports that openly gay lawyer Robert Feldman complained to Bronx Supreme Court Justice Richard Lee Price after the judge labeled his courtroom manner "flamboyant".

FeldmanAccording to the Post the judge, who is hearing the case about a 20-year-old man who was shot by police, said: "I know making reference to your, what appeared to be dancing as part of your cross-examination and your flamboyant nature as I addressed it, I hope it won't happen again. Just try to control yourself."

Feldman later complained: "With all due respect, I mind your characterization of my nature of dancing around and being flamboyant as homophobic."

The judge said he was free to file a formal complaint, which Feldman, who claims he was "gesticulating with [his] hands," says he won't do.

Said Feldman: "I give him the benefit of the doubt. I happen to think he's actually a top-notch, top-drawer, intelligent judge . . . I don't think he really meant to offend. But I do think it's subconscious homophobia."

But what of the subconscious homophobia of the Post, who chose to include this unnecessary detail in their report: "The openly gay Feldman, 52, who boasts that he and his 20-something boyfriend are featured on the erotic gay Web site Daddyhunt.com..."

  1. Am I strange for not hearing the word flamboyant as automatically meaning "queer"? In the context of a courtroom, it sounds like a very reasonable 'knock it off' type of reprimand from the bench.

52 with a 20-something boyfriend?! Daddyhunt.com may just have found their new poster children.

  2. While there is no doubt the Post is usually homophobic, it seems that Feldman voluntarily offered up the irrelevant Daddyhunt information to the reporter. Perhaps he's proud and wanted the tidbit printed.

  3. How is mentioning a site which they joined of their own free will homophobic? If you don't want your bits and pieces exposed you probably don't want them on the internet. If I was running for office or in public service, I probably wouldn't be on Manhunt, Dudesnude, Bigmuscle, Rentboy, or Daddyhunt.

  4. Hell, if you were on Bigmuscle, I'd vote for you, Matt. I'd vote for you three times.

Whoever Feldman is, y'all know I like him. I like gay people who challenge society. I'm bored by "normal acting" gay people. Don't get me wrong, y'all "normal" gay folks are necessary, but not exciting. Y'all should adopt kids and join the Home & School Assoication, ya' know--stay away from the bars and Pride parades.

  5. There's a video of him and the 20-something bf discussing their daddy/son relationship on the main page of daddyhunt.com

He seemed a little TMI and out-of-control on the video.

  6. DERRICK,you crack me up!

Now onto serious stuff...I don't think the Post did anything wrong by printing the Daddyhunt piece. He voluntarily offered the info. The judge on the other hand IS homophobic since he seems to be uncomfortable with the lawyer's "flamboyant nature"(read "voguing" nature).

  7. LMAO at the picture!

What's their screenname on daddyhunt? I think I can search for it from the main page.

  8. I didn't get that the judge was homophobic at all from this story. He was just trying to encourage a level of professionalism and decorum in his courtroom.

Methinks someone has a bit of persecution complex.

And WTF IS up with the daddyhunt thing?!? All i can say is EW! TMI!

  9. You know, I've seen these 2 once on 23rd and 6th near BestBuy...they look pretty happy, cute.

  10. I'm with MT, some decorum is required, and over the top anything is not for a courtroom. Especially in a case like this. This is the real world, not some judge show on TV for a couple of thousand bucks.

As for the 20 year old and Daddyhunt, way too much info, and, kind of freaky at the same time.

  14. Could someone give me the name for the video?
    cant find it.
Ive been told he's alittle scary and manic

  15. Spare me. You'd call a witch scary, a mule stubborn, why wouldn't a gay man be called flamboyant? If the shoe fits...

  16. His video was somewhat moving at points but
I can't believe someone with this profession
would allow their personal life to be broadcast. As a fellow attorney, I will never refer him to others again. Some one needs to guard the gate.

  18. What is the heck is homophobic about the Post reporting the Daddyhunt thing? It sounds like he freely offered then info and newspapers always mention the marital status of the subjects of their articles.

If Feldman is going to run to the media about perceived slights at his workplace he can't expect that they're not going to mention his online sex-vids. That kind of pathological compartmentalization is reserved for the minds of Repub homophobes trawling airport bathrooms.
