Billy Elliot Gets Buff, Plays Slave to Channing Tatum
Here's a brand new still of actor Jamie Bell from the forthcoming film Eagle of the Ninth, in which he plays a Celtic slave in the Roman-occupied Britain of 140 AD. Channing Tatum plays his Roman master.
A few shots of Tatum in his war armor, AFTER THE JUMP...

I think this is based on a real book (as opposed to GI Joe). Maybe it will actually have a plot (as opposed to GI Joe). And maybe it won't be just an empty-headed dress up film. We can dream, right?

Garrett, it's based on a British book from the 50's and a BBC mini-series. To hold true to it's value it would require some solid acting, something Channing doesn't do well.

Who knew they invented the low-cut style in Boadicean times?
Even so, Jamie gives good slave - quite a model to follow...

The book is The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff a wonderful author; I read it when I grew up (as i did all of her books) and have just finished re-reading it. I only hope that the focus remains on the characters and not the fighting - the casting of Channing Tatum makes me doubt...

I thought Channing was wonderful in "Stop-Loss".

Jamie as a slave and Channing as his master. Aaaaand, it's time for an extended lunch break : )

To be fair, the NYTimes said Channing Tatum was reminiscent of a young Brando when he was in Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. I relish the idea of hotties that are good for you. Don't take him away from me.

I have to agree Tatum was really good in "Stop Loss", I was totally surprised by it. Hopefully he has a decent script for this film (adaptations are always tricky). Let's face it, he's not an A-List drama star, but I'm willing to give this a chance. GI Joe was a summer popcorn flick, and if this isn't designed as such, maybe we'll get more of what we saw in "Stop Loss".

Jamie is a terrific actor. Watching him grow up on film has been a pleasure.

Sorry to say this, but the Billy Elliot guy is a "butter face". Nice cut body though.

When I read that Bell was cast w Chan I figured it was to market Bell to the Twilight crowd in advance of his TinTin flick. These pics reinforce my suspicion.
I guess Bell is leaving the "real acting" jobs to Ryan Gosling & Joe Gordon Levitt for a movie career as a himbo.
Pity but perhaps he feels intimidated.

Jamie Bell, I can look at him for a long time and then again.
