Poll shows America turning corner on homosexuality? "For more than 30 years, since 1978, a majority of respondents to the poll have said "homosexual relationships between consenting adults is morally wrong," while a minority have said homosexuality 'not a moral issue.' That is, until this Presidents Day Weekend, when 50% of respondents said homosexuality is not a moral issue, while 48% said that it was morally wrong. Two percent said they had no opinion."

West Virginia lesbian couple denied apartment rental for being gay: "Darby is gay. She and her partner, Erika Johnson, have been together for two years. They were looking forward to sharing an apartment together when they hit an unexpected roadblock with their potential landlord.

NYT: Gay theater evolving. "While persecution remains a reality for most of these gay characters, just as it does in many movies and television shows featuring gay love stories, the widening acceptance of AIDS as a pandemic rather than a gay disease — and the broadening debate on gay marriage and gay soldiers — have led, and have to some extent freed, writers and producers to use a wider lens to explore a broader landscape."

Profile: the most influential hustler of the 20th century (site nsfw). "He’s appeared in books by Christopher Isherwood, Gore Vidal and Truman Capote, and popped up in the memoirs of countless artists, writers and royals. He sat for famed photographer George Platt Lynes, and apparently lay down with the French actor, Jean Marais. Mr. Isherwood, one of his closest friends, referred to him as, ‘the most expensive male prostitute in the world...'"

Prince William fails blind archery challenge.
Survey: Tebow Super Bowl ad failed to connect: “The downside from the standpoint of the commercial’s sponsors is sure to be that the main message and organization behind the ad were lost to a majority of viewers. In this respect, even if Focus simply were trying to reach a wider audience of pro-life Christians through the power of the NFL’s super-sized audience, most viewers never made the connection to the Focus organization. Perhaps this comes from misunderstanding the fact that many evangelical ministry leaders and organizations are comparatively unknown to the broader population.”

I found that gay theater article a bit clueless. Evolved from what? Does the Times think there have been only 3 gay plays in the history of gay theater (Boys in the Band, The Normal Heart, Angels in America)? It also seems to disregard the variety of work being done in independent theater in New York and the rest of the country (not to mention avoiding historical examples of queer theater such as Federico Garcia Lorca's The Public).
As a playwright writing plays with gay characters that goes beyond the standard AIDS/coming out memes for the past 15 years, I just feel like it's a little WTF for my taste for the Times to suddenly announce gay theater is suddenly "changed" and "different."
That said, I am friends with people involved in several of the shows they mention, so please go support them and check their work out!

Was it H. Rap Brown or one of the other Black Panthers in exile who appeared wearing a pair of penis pants, way back in the 70's? The protuberance was more substantial. I think the intention was to provide a freer, airier place for the membrum virile than either boxers or briefs would give. The name Dickies tm was probably already claimed. One might reflect on added meanings to "tighty whities".

James Franco's studly younger brother is already an actor. But I can see how you might make that mistake since I am apparently the only person watching the new season of Scrubs. Or is it a spin-off? I can't tell. It's all very confusing. Maybe that's why no one watches it. Which is a shame because it got really funny once they got past the whole WTF-ness of the new location and got rid of the painfully past-his-prime Zach Braff. The new characters, including James Franco's studly younger brother, make the show work, particular the dry female doc (she's so me), but my favorite is the older medical student that Dr. Cox calls #1. He's so dreamy. I'm on a horse.

That wrestler has a welcome amount of confidence.
Normally I might harp about an article that stresses the heterosexuality of the 'straight ally' in question; but we're talking the world of sports, and what may be heavy-handed in one example is refreshingly presented here.

I'm a little scared that people didn't connect the Tebow ad to the Focus group. If people are that clueless about the various right-wing nutjob organizations out there I can see why the various Prop * made their way into law.
I wish that major news would take up the cause of reporting on these groups so that the general public can begin to see the crazies that are scaring them into denying people equal rights.

I think Isabel's fashions are fun. She is very creative. It's about time we can laugh at things and enjoy them.
