Miley Cyrus Quit Twitter Because of Anti-Gay Hate Mail
In a new interview with Kevin Sessums for Parade magazine, Miley Cyrus says she quit Twitter because she got so much hate mail for airing her supportive views of gay marriage:
“There has been so much controversy sometimes about what I’ve said or done because I believe there are no mistakes because God is the only one who can judge us. That’s the reason I deleted my Twitter account because I said on there that I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other, and I got such hate mail about my being a bad person.”
Miley also says that she avoids TV, aside from one particular show:
“I am screwed up in the mind a little bit because I’m not like other 16- or 17-year-old girls. I have no perspective of who exactly my fans are, to tell you the truth. Teenage girls in general are hard for me. I’m not a girl’s girl. And I don’t really watch television at all. But there is one show I’m addicted to: RuPaul’s Drag Race. I love me some RuPaul. I love RuPaul’s motto. It goes something like, ‘A real lady is never bitchy, a real lady is sassy.'”

I like Miley:) and I love Rupaul's Drag Race!!

Good for her! I never really thought much of her, but I will definitely support her now.

That's sweet of her. She needs some gays because she is all wrong at every awards show. Not as bad as her mother, who showed up to the Oscars looking like a dayshift stripper who had gotten a train run on her five minutes earlier, but bad nonetheless. She should call Ru up and get his help, bless her heart.

OK, i kinda thought she was a jackass but now I need to re-evaluate! I still wanna hit her daddy!

Start your engines!
Maybe this really will help with the *other* hate "mail" she's been getting on this side of the fence.

OK, now I'm pissed. I hate her music. I never particularly liked her and the fact that she says everything is a "blessing." But now I have to re-evaluate. Sigh. It's so much easier to hate. ;-)

Thanks Miley! The gays should really rally around her ... her BF's have all been HOT!

At first this got an eye roll. Really, you think everyone should get to marry the one they love, but not enough to simply ignore the e-mail from dalejr4evr@hotmail.com with the subject "Baby Jeezus iz a Cry'n and u'll be a Fry'n"?
Then she mentioned RuPaul's Drag Race and I re-evaluated. You know, Twitter's kind of silly anyway. And I can't help but wonder, does Miley Cyrus think Tyra is as big a bitch as I do?
One can only hope she will continue to support gay marriage even if she does not do so with a character limit sent to a bunch of teenage girls and creepy old men.

Miley is growing up and learning that sometimes you will have opinions that other people will hate you for having. Here's hoping she decides to ignore the haters and be her own person.

I don't know much about her and always just rolled my eyes at her, but now that I read this I, too, suppose I must re-evaluate.
The comment about gay marriage was nice, but it was the comment about RuPaul that actually showed she was being real about it. It can be easy sometimes to see when celebrities are trying to court a fan base, but something about that seemed a little genuine.
Still, I can never listen to her music. Way too teeny bopper for me.
Maybe she's in a phase right now where she's finally coming out of her (creepy) father's grip.

This is PR bulls***. I worked at Disney at the height of the Hannah Montana craze and Miley was a loose cannon on Twitter, posting pictures of her bra, etc. Everyday was damage control (though the pics themselves were hardly eyebrow raising, for her fans, they were and Disney freaked). Suddenly and abruptly, Miley quits her Twitter. Why? Because the PR people had had enough.
This is PR spin. HOWEVER - this doesn't negate the fact that Miley truly does support LGBT rights and marriage equality. She does. But this story is misleading - our rights is not the reason she left Twitter. She is. We're just the scapegoat again.

Damn it no! She is to be hated... make her stop saying such things!!
Least we can all agree on one thing... Tyra is a Bitch! Her and her "Wanna-BEyonce" stuff needs to Sashay AWAY!!

i just don't like her, but in the same note,
i was watching the rupaul tranny wreck and i was hating tyra=sasha niqua and then this weeks episode became a tornado, it was too messy (it was not a hot mess)having henry rollings and miss juju/yuyu crying like she had one too many drinks ,and oh! drama, i just stop suddenly watching it ,don't care for it, is like if i want to see stuff like that i just hang out at la Cueva(chicago) is too cheap and very scandalous,
,oh i forgot about miley , yeah i still hate her,

she says one nice thing about gays? There's no reason for me to "re-evaluate", i still don't like her :)

I have to say I didn't like her either. I also assumed she was anti-gay because Stephen Baldwin is a close friend of her family & he has come out against gay marriage cuz he's now a born-again Christian. Yes, I know a lot of it is PR but it'll still have some positive impact. I knew there was a reason 'Party in the USA' was a guilty pleasure for me.

Can't we respect her without having to go apes**t over her music?
How many of you know who Stephen Hough is, what he does for the "gay cause" (he does blog - he's not a front-line "activist" but makes his opinion known in many so-called "conservative" circles) and how many of you "like" HIS music? How many of you even KNOW his music? (If you do, I'm single.)
Miley's music fits a certain market - the Disney pre-teen girl market. This is a creation of the Disney heads and is probably one of the things she's trying to steer away from. As she matures and leave the Hannah Montana mold, I'm sure her music will not be of the "OMG, he's so cute, give me a Certs" mentality.

I love to hate to love this hillbilly. Oddly, she's one of those that is so separated from "typical famous folk" that she can speak logic without reprise. Am I still talking about Miley?

Count me on those that rolled eyes - then thought. For what she does - she does it well. And it's nice that she seems sincerely open-minded and supportive. So she made a little bit of a fan here.
PS - I "met" here when she was 9 months old working on a Billy Ray video shoot in Nashville. She was very down to earth. :) (how long til some idiot takes that literally?)

she's not like other 16- 17- year old girls? Umm....can we do a reality check?

she's great. good for her.

too funny. launched to stardom by a christian fan base, too big a star to be ignored and too savy to get knocked up or strung out and be dismissed.
