Ryan Reynolds Reveals Superhero Diet for GQ

What does Ryan Reynolds do to get his abs?

Writes GQ correspondent Chris Heath: "On the Green Lantern set, I watch him eat his usual plate of steamed chicken, salmon, broccoli, carrots, and rice. On the kitchen counter of the house he rents in New Orleans is a huge jar of a white powder called Isolyze, primarily whey protein. Wherever he is, he snacks on these orange bars called Zero Impact Pumpkin Supremes—'sort of like a pumpkin made out of cinder block,' he quips."

Also, lots of early morning hours at the gym.

Says Reynolds: "I have a discipline that has served me very well in my career and in my personal life, and that's gotten stronger as I've gotten older. I've always felt if I don't just have a natural knack for it, I will just outdiscipline the competition if I have to—work harder than anybody else."

The peek above is the most skin you're going to see in his GQ slideshow, although the rest is pretty fine too.

  5. God that sounds like misery. Eating right is one thing. Eating nothing but plain chicken and protein powder to achieve a nearly impossible ideal is insanity.

  6. Well, when you play a superhero who controls his powers through willpower, this is kind of fitting.

  9. does he put some type of dressing or sauce to the steamed chicken? You know, ketchup, Miracle Whip or Asian dressing? For some flavor...
