Our Self-Described 'Fierce Advocate' Tweets on 'DADT'

I'll repeat what Rachel Maddow said last night: "A plan that has no chance of becoming reality is not a real plan, no matter how much you say it is. You can either end it, or you can stop saying you will."

  2. His follow up tweet should have said...
"But not by my hand if I can help it."

  3. I thought his follow-up tweet said something about a bridge in Brooklyn he had for sale...

  4. How, Mr. President? What's the plan? When is it going to be implemented? Because from this side it looks like a whole bunch of hemming and hawing and talking, but not a bunch of action. In fact, there seems to be a whole bunch of action in the other direction by your administration.

  5. According to him during the State of the Union address, it was supposed to be this year.

I just get pissed, pissed and more pissed with this bullshit. Hell, never mind me...what about our gay and lesbian servicemembers who are waiting for this disgusting piece of shit law to end, as it should have years ago?

  6. Oh, it may very well end on "his watch." But it will be IN SPITE of him, not because of him.

The President has the same credibility with the non-hetero community as he does with the unemployed - zero.

  7. Fuck you, Barack.

  8. This is truly what obama believes. He believes that if the house or, less likely, the senate falls to the republicans (or if they gain at all), then they'll be forced to be accountable by the people somehow, and then get on board with his policy initiatives...and the obstructionism will stop. And Hillary's haunting words can't be clearer here..."let's just get everybody together. Let's get unified. The sky will open. The light will come down. Celestial choirs will be singing. And everyone will know we should do the right thing, and the world will be perfect." You are not going to wave a magic wand...

There's another very self serving justification for obama. If the repubs win a chamber or more, his reelection chances are given a boost. He knows this, and wants it to happen. Further, he's still pandering with this appeal. This is entirely voluntary on the part of the DOJ and obama admin; and if you don't think that eric holder doesn't consult with the admin before he so much blows his nose, you're one of them.

  9. What get sme is they tal about "implementation". Like what is tehre to "implement". They actually have to do nothing. Literally. The only sticky points are people who have been dismissed or those in the process.

To me the point is that the dems are using this for politically. Seems to me they just want something thats pretty easy to pass so they can look busy and claim some victory. They are just pissed a court stole their kabuki thunder.

My real worry is that it will go to the senate and they will end it but tack on some future date. Like 2016. This senate loves to make anything they pass not happen for 5 years.

  10. The clearest way you can tell this is a lie is that earlier this year he promised in the state of the union that it would be on it's way to repeal this year. Now it's within the next 2. And then it'll be when we re-elect him. And all it would take him is to say stop.

  11. F*** you Obama.

I don't trust you. You slimy opportunist.

If you appeal the judicial DADT ruling, then you are as bad as George W Bush.

  12. "Michele, I can't find a pen to sign an end to DADT? Have you seen them?"

maybe he can borrow one of the kids crayons.

  13. All due respect Mr. President, but I no longer have any.

  14. You know the old saying ... how do you know the President is LYING?

    When he talks. Or tweets!

What a freaking joke he has become. Never again will I give my time, my money or VOTE for this fool!

  16. I'm not a legal expert on repealing DADT, but honestly, what possible difference does it make whether DADT is repealed via a federal judge deeming it unconstitutional or (as Obama insists) having it repealed through the Senate ? Something the president seems to have conveniently forgotten is that segregation was ended through a judge's decision...not through Congress. There's a good chance he wouldn't even be eligible to be president today, if the civil rights movement (i.e. segregation's end) had waited for congressional approval. I voted for this man,and I was a big supporter of his during the presidential election;however,I'm beginning to think he deliberately lied to the LGBT community (about wanting to repeal DADT) in order to win our vote. Furthermore, I also now believe he's delberately parlaying this situation into an "us against them" issue where he's intentionally trying to make it appear to conservatives that he does not support the LGBT community, strictly as a public relations ploy, to win over conservatives (not that this political strategy will necessarily work). And the saddest part is it's actually a pretty shrewd tactical ploy (i.e. a win-win situation for Obama)because he's counting on the fact that when he's up for reelection, LGBT voters will vote for him regardless of his lack of ethics simply because he'll more than likely be the "lesser of two evils". What a liar Obama has turned out to be...

  17. I hate Obama. He is a horrid human being. I have zero respect for him. At least Bush didn't pretend to be a supporter of gay rights.

Message to Obama: A judicial overturn of DADT IN NO WAY precludes Congress from still taking DADT off the books.

    Fuck you Obama.

I'm sorry, Hillary. You should have been the Democratic Party nominee. I appreciate all the things you've done in the State Department for the LGBT community. It's too bad your president doesn't care as much as you do.

  18. the more we hate him, the stronger he becomes.

our lives, experiences, struggles, families, health and livelihoods are meaningless to this man. he has used as and continues to instigate our ire to strengthen his appeal to the Right.

  19. President Obama is looking to score political points with DADT, his actions today are shameful.

  20. Well, guys and gals, I guess this is change we can believe in. Who's surprised?

    Posted by: Rich | Oct 14, 2010 6:13:48 PM

  21. But ya know, guest, the joke's on him...because if he doesn't know by now, the right doesn't particularly care for black people, and a black president is simply heresy. There's nothing he can do but continue to alienate his base with actions like this (because he will not sway them), and destroy his reelection chances. It's not just gay people who have had it with this guy. He's about ready for the fork. and us...he was a mistake, and he has no connection to the lgbt community (no close gay friends, or cabinet members, advisors, or decision makers...no connection at all), really...a big mistake.

  24. Nice to know that Obama supports our right to serve in the military and make sacrifices for the country that continues to keep treating us like second class human beings by denying us the right to marry.

He'd rather see us dead than married to each other.

    Fuck Obama.

  25. A polite homophobe is still a homophobe...no matter how you slice it!! It is unfortunate that Obama and his minions have been brainwashed by their B---S--- religion to continue to lie about his so called plans for our civil rights.
