  5. While I appreciate and applaud her support for marriage equality, @MIKE, I cannot full on "love her" because of some of her other politics. On Lawrence O'Donnell a few nights back, she said she votes her interests: no 'death taxes' and pro-Israel. On the latter - not going to get into it. On the former, didn't we just have a big fight about this in Washington? Isn't the ability of rich people to avoid paying their fair share in society (i.e., bald-faced greed) one of the core reasons why we continue to see an alarmingly exponential rise in income disparity in this supposedly most advanced democracy in the world? It's a true mark of shame.

Let's all be rational and agree that while it is commendable whenever a public figure stands up for LGBT rights, she or he may simultaneously partake of questionable interests that in fact do not benefit humanity, equality, and fairness. And we need to remain alert to that as well. Our struggle as LGBT people is part of a larger struggle, so let's not be narrow, and see the forest as well as the trees.

  6. @andalusian dog: The topic here was marriage equality. My comment was merely regarding the video posted above. I didn't see the piece on Laurence O'Donnell so I can't comment on it but if she said she would not support the "death tax", so what!? At least she is open about it.
I gladly take her support for marriage equality. Once that it accomplished we'll deal with the rest. Have a great day!

  8. Joan Rivers is one of the few "rich" that I am fine not being taxed at a higher rate. She does maintain a certain lifestyle but at the same time gives selflessly to "God's Love, We Deliver" and provides for everyone in her extended family, staff and even staff's extended families from housing to education.

She works her ass off for every cent she makes as exemplified in her documentary and does not sit on her huge pile of money, she spends it on the people who matter.
