  1. protest idea: everyone drives to target, fills up their stupid parking lot, but no one goes into the store.

  2. Joel, take it a step further. Everyone goes inside, fills up many carts with tons of merchandise, takes it to the cashiers, and walks away. Create confusion, annoyance, and extra work all at once.

And leave behind flyers explaining it, since I'd guess maybe 1% of Americans have any idea Target is antigay. To most people they seem hip and cool. Even I was surprised to hear it's run by jerks.

  3. @Paul, unfortunately the only people that's going to hurt are the poor schmoes who are going to have to restock everything and clean up the store. That's not going to put so much as a dent in Target's balance sheet, which is really the only way to deal with problems that start and end with Corporate.

  4. @Lola: I considered that, but having most employees doing useless busy work also makes the store less efficient and attractive. If they're busy doing such menial tasks, they won't be able to stock shelves with new goods, help customers as effectively, or keep the store pretty---which causes a dent, because if there's enough mess then people will go elsewhere. No one wants to wait in endless lines or see merchandise scattered everywhere.

I freely admit it's a jerk tactic, but it's also fighting fire with fire. It's a boycott plus one. A simplistic one, I admit, but it could create mayhem for Target.

  5. Target is controlled by people who place profit before human rights. They are fair game for protest. Anything legal, that harms their profits and reputation is totally fine by me. These campaigners are breaking no laws, so Target are clearly upset over their message. Sucks to be Target. Their reputation in the LGBT community is so badly damaged. Spread the word.

Don't they get paid for that? Maybe even overtime? Please hurt me like that.
