“Too-ism’ These men are confusing rejection with discrimination. If you’re 60 or 50 or 40 or 30 and want the attentions of someone half your age, that’s fine, but don’t expect to get the attention and for sure don’t call it “ageism”. It’s a preference on the part of the 60 or 50 or 40 or 30 or 20 year old Not to date you. And if you’re White/Black/Blue/Green and someone Pink does not want to date you, that is a preference, not an “-ism”. Don’t take it as racism, it’s not. If you’re a Gay Male and don’t want to date a women, are you labeled a “sexist”? I would not think so, and what’s more you don’t see your self as sexist, that’s just not your preference in sexual partners. “Too-ism” is about rejection not discrimination.

True fact: if not for shared discrimination based on sexual orientation, most gay people would have nothing to do with each other. Why don’t heterosexuals have to all get along with each other?

  3. jaragon says

The best part of the annual gay pride parade in NYC and how ALL members of the tribe come together. Gay culture is obsessed with image- we are all suppose to be young smooth and white- that is not always possible.

  4. JMG says

I couldn’t *date* someone who performed in drag. It makes my dick go limp.

That doesn’t mean I think less of them… the heart (or penis) wants what it wants. And it’s not in heels or lipstick.

  5. James says

Everyone is entitled to their own dating choices. That’s not discriminiation, it’s preference. I have a very diverse group of friends, but who I date is a different story, and it’s no one’s business but mine.

And as a 40 year old, the age -ism doesn’t bother me from guys in their 20’s: it bothers me from guys my own age or older who waste their lives chasing twinks.

  6. Robert says

Just like straight people who don’t want to hang around gays aren’t homophobic, they’re just expressing a preference. If you find an entire group of people uniformly unattractive, don’t you need to ask yourself why?
