Newt Gingrich Calls on Obama to Repudiate 'Occupy Wall Street' Concept of the 99 and the 1: VIDEO

Gingrich

At a South Carolina campaign stop today, Newt Gingrich called on Obama to condemn Occupy Wall Street's concept of the 99 and the 1%, Think Progress reports:

I repudiate, and I call on the President to repudiate, the concept of the 99 and the 1. It is un-American, it is divisive, it is historically false…You are not going to get job creation when you engage in class warfare because you have to attack the very people you hope will create jobs.

  1. um, no - it's true. Newt you're part of the 1% - your voice doesn't count.

Now sit down and find a new wife.

  2. Newt is a big fat hypocrite and should just STFU while he can. How about we replace "class warfare" with "culture war" and see how his audience responds. We should call on him to tell his repulsive christofascist followers that they need to stop their divisive campaign against gay americans and their desire for equal rights. fairs fair, right Newt? Oh yeah, you don't have a clue what that means.

  3. "Job creators" don't create jobs out of the goodness of their hearts. They create them when the demand for their products requires more workers. So it's a false proposition that we need to coddle these "job creators" to ensure that they will create jobs. We can coddle the 1% all we want - in fact, we have been for quite a while now - and it will not make a bit of difference in job creation. They will hire people when it serves their interests to do so, plain and simple. Newt probably knows this, which makes his statement all the more annoying.

  4. Divisive?

You mean like Republicans against everyone else? Conservatives against everyone else? Religionists against everyone else? The Richest of the Rich against everyone else?

Oh silly me. Those are the games Newt and his boys play. Of course THOSE aren't divisive.

  6. Of course you would. You can't have anything threaten your comfy, cozy lifestyle.

Would Republicans hurry up and get over Gingrich so he can fall back into obscurity? He's so annoying with his arrogance. It's like a slap to the face to the middle class; you know, the overwhelming voting segment.

  8. "She's a witch! She turned me into a Newt!"

Still waiting for you to get better, dingus...

Remember, it's only class warfare when we fight back.

  9. I bet he also wants to make his religion the national religion and to force the press to say what he wants them to say with no leeway.

Now that Mr. Gingrich has publicly stated he wants to revoke out inalienable right to assemble peacefully, I sure as HELL hope no one votes for him!

  17. Funny, I would have thought that getting 99% of people on your side would be more unifying than divisive.

  18. John Kyl--the #2 Republican in the government right now--is out there claiming that Obama should let the middle-class payroll tax cut expire, since we "can't afford it"--but he wants yet another round of tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, the "job creators" (who have not been creating jobs for the past several years, as you may have noticed).

And then the Republicans get up there and say, with a straight face, that they are against "class warfare." They must assume that most Americans come out of substandard schools (which conservatives have tried to defund and undermine at every turn), and are too dumb to realize the pile of crap that the Republicans are trying sell them.

I used to think these people were just blinkered and myopic. Now, I think some of them are flat-out evil.

  19. Where does the Establishment find such enemies of liberty? Did they create them in their own image?

If character doesn't matter to you, then Gingrich is your man!
