RoadClear Channel radio host John Kobylt on why models are skinny: "Gay guys control the fashion industry and the casting industry and the whole Hollywood look. And gays like bodies that remind them of a 14 year old-boy. Guys like curves. Guys like curves. Absolutely, positively. It's biological, because a woman with curves looks like she can bear your children successfully and that's biologically what a man is looking for. So sexually a guy is much more turned on by a woman with curves than these 14 year old-boy stick figures. And that's how I know for sure, I don't need to do any research or any proof that it's gay guys who control the entire casting industry."

RoadFocus on the Family founder James Dobson endorses Santorum: "The institution of the family is the key issue facing this great nation. It is the foundation, the bedrock, upon which every dimension of Western Civilization rests. If it is undermined or weakened by cultural and governmental forces, the entire superstructure will collapse in short order. And indeed, today it is in serious jeopardy. The very definition of marriage is threatened, which has implications for the next generation and the stability of society itself. Of all the Republican candidates who are vying for the presidency, former Sen. Santorum is the one who has spoken passionately in every debate about this concern. He has pleaded with the nation and its leaders to come to the aid of marriages, parents, and their children. What a refreshing message…"

  1. FernLaPlante says

John Kobylt contradicts himself multiple times in that statement. “Gays control the industry…gay like bodies that look like 14-year old boys. Guys like curves not 14-year-old stick figure.” huh?! Also, I am gay and I am not attracted to the twink look. I’ll take a Ben Cohen over a hairless Bieber any day.”

  2. says

so….straight guys who date female models are actually gay? ok.

I do hope Santorum gets the nomination. that would be hilarious.

the whole “it’s the end of civilization!!” thing is hilarious. not just because it makes no sense and will never happen, but the funny reality that an all-gay society would actually solve most of the world’s problems: no more overpopulation, no more abortions, no more mass-consumption taking up resources.

‘heterosexuality’ is not what makes babies.

wanna save the world? GO GAY!

The letter from Zac to his two dads is very moving. I know a majority of you have no clue or desire to parent a child but as a parent, a daddy, and a husband I can tell you that nothing gives me more happiness then to look at my boy with his big brown eyes and hear him quietly say “I love you Daddy”. I totally melt into gooeyness.

He’s growing very quickly and will turn five in early March. Now in Kindergarten he beams when his two dads arrive to pick him up. He drags us to his friends, “This is my Dad and this is my Dad. I have two dads!” he’ll say proudly.

Anyway … just sayin’ silly stuff. Forgive me.

  4. Tim NC says

@FernLaPlante…. The “guys” he is talking about that like curves are straight guys. So, there’s no contradiction. He says gay guys when he means gay and just guys when he means straight.

  5. redball says

OS2GUY…that is wickedly sweet, that he says that to his friends & with such pride. My goodness!! You’re a role model to future daddies like my fiance and me :)

  6. art says

sorry, the 14 year old thing is ridicules, but gay men and women are a bit nut when it comes to body image. Too many designers want to dress Barbie not real woman…. and a boobless Barbie at that. If straight men had more input in the fashion industry you would see a lot more Sofia Vergalas and a lot less kate Mosses on the runway.

  7. SFshawn says

That radio host sounds seriously delusional.
“Gays like bodies that remind them of a 14 year old boy”. Generalize much?
There are millions and millions of gay/bi men on this planet no matter how many governments and religious freaks and supposed ‘straights’ attempt to diminish the REAL and authentic numbers. Ms. Kobylt must be getting confused by all the religous leaders/priests,the predominately Republican closet cases and the ‘straight’ football coaches that enjoy sexually abusing 14 year old boys with gay MEN(like me)who LOVE men with all THEIR curves and muscles and masculine energy.(Ricky Martin-bring it!)
Straight guys who are REALLY straight are NOT afraid of gay guys AT ALL. Straight guys who are haters and bashers are serious closet cases who can’t handle their own truth and instead try to project their hidden desire for d**k with hyper and false masculinity.
One hopes this delusional closet case will come out sooner than later. :)

  8. anon says

The ideal str8 guy women is more of a Miss America type than a supermodel. However, the exotic supermodel look is just that, a difficult to achieve exotic look that promotes a sense of rarity and privilege. Sadly, it a little like pure bred dogs and cats.

  9. jason says

I think that what is happening is that gay male fashion designers have been masculinizing the female appearance. They do this because they are misogynists. They hate the female form and all it represents.

  10. Tim NC says

I always heard the reason for the skinny models was because the designers just wanted models to be like hangers to put the clothes on so that the clothing showed well.

  11. Caliban says

Oh god, here we go with the “fashion designers hate real women because they’re gay men!” cr*p again. Have you ever looked at fashion drawings by male OR female designers? If those were real people they’d be 15 feet tall. Barbie in real life, with those same proportions would be from 8-12 (estimates differ) feet tall. The whole idea is for the models to show off the CLOTHES. If designers could use pipe cleaners with attractive human heads they would use them.

Not that I’m into fashion at all, but as an illustrator I went to school with plenty of wannabe designers.

Obviously, I would think, there are limits. Not just about promoting a healthy body image for other women but for the models themselves AND the designers. If you’re distracted by how unhealthy a model looks you’re not paying attention to the clothes either.

Depp looks awful in every still from the Dark Shadows film I’ve seen. I was looking forward to this movie at first but not any longer. The story is supposed to be that Barnabus shows up claiming to be the descendant of the original Barnabus. If a snow white person who looks like a wax figure with 1/2 inch long sharp nails shows up at your door, you’re unlikely to let them in no matter what. It looks like Burton/Depp are screwing up the source material AGAIN!

  12. jason says

Stop trying to give gay male fashion designers a pass. You’re always making excuses for them. Take some responsibility for the de-humanizing sexism of gay men. Own the issue for once, and stop trying to blame someone else.

Fact is, gay men are very sexist towards women. For instance, look at how gay men have supported a whole stream of bikini-clad women in the music industry – Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry…the list is endless.

There’s a certain dysfunctionality to gay men because, while they support scantily-clad women in the music industry, they avoid supporting scantily-clad men.

Once again, GLAAD casts aside concern about defamation to kiss up to the Hollywood elite. So an episode of “30 Rock” satirizes the incident where Tracy Morgan joked about killing Gay children, and Herndon Graddick finds it “hilarious”? Who can get serious about anti-Gay bullying and violence when we’re not serious about it our damn selves? GLAAD is shameful in its spinelessness; the group should disband immediately! It’s nothing but a parody of its former self.
