Stunning. Filled with so many film references: Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, flip book and carousel animation, John Ford, To Kill A Mockingbird. When animation is done for the love of the art it can bring boundless gifts, but unfortunately the bulk of it is only produced as product. For those who love animation this short film is a rare treasure. Thanks for posting.

I didn’t really get it either.
I saw all of the Oscar nominated shorts in the theater, and this year’s crop was lackluster. No offense to the director of this short, I just thought it was boring.

I didn’t get to attend my friends’ usual mass-outting of viewing the nommed shorts this year, but they all picked this as their favorite, and were pleased when it won – just as I was pleased to finally see it. It’s delightful. To each their own, I suppose. This one’s my cup of tea. Your mileage may obviously vary. But, le sigh, there’s no accounting for taste. 😉

I absolutely loved this short and was so happy when it won on Sunday. Like quite a few of yoir readers, i also shed a tear at the end of this one. The film that won Live Action Short, “The Shore,” was also superb.
