Former SLDN, Media Matters Staffer Trevor Thomas Running for Congress in Michigan

Trevor Thomas, the former Communications Director for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network who also worked for a short time at Media Matters, announced today that he is running for Congress from Michigan.

TrevorThomas is challenging Rep Justin Amash, a Tea Party Republican from his hometown in Michigan’s 3rd District. Writes Thomas:

It's time for us to return to the values of Jerry Ford, who put politics aside to do what was best for our country. My parents' generation helped put the world on wheels and furniture in our living rooms. Now it is our time to stand up and fight for Michigan families to ensure they get a fair shake. This is a campaign for us all.

Thomas recorded a video to launch his campaign, in which he drives through his hometown.

  2. It was a pleasure to know and work with Trevor as a fellow election board chair member at Grand Valley State University. Trevor is fully capable of representing those in and around Kent County. Michigan is truly lucky to have him working to make it better for not just LGBTQQ Michigan folk, but for everyone. I wish you the best, old friend!

  3. As a resident of Grand Rapids, I'm pretty excited about this. Here's his facebook page, "like" it to show support!

  5. I hope he wins, we need more intelligent congressman to replace the tea party crazies who seek to destroy the job given to them. I hope he can contribute to a new sane congress if this country doesn't have another voter nervous breakdown like in 2010.

  6. Not in my district, but God it'd be great to see him win. Contributed $25...

Lets see if we can push him over $2,000 for the day. He'll need it.
