Major League Soccer Cuts Ties with Anti-Gay Boy Scouts of America
It's unclear whether the Boy Scouts announcement that they would be upholding their anti-gay policies contributed to a decision by Major League Soccer last week but it can't be seen as a coincidence.
Outsports reports that the organization announced they're cutting ties with the BSA with this statement:
“Major League Soccer’s agreement with the Boy Scouts of America expires at the end of the 2012 season and MLS does not intend the renew the agreement for a variety of business reasons,” MLS President Mark Abbott said in a statement to Goal.com on Friday.

Goooooooooooooooooal!

Very good to see. MLS is one of the few sports leagues that are truly doing their part in eliminating homophobia within the sport and create a culture of acceptance, both with fans and it's athletes. The response against the Boy Scouts' homophobia has been good to see.

That's awesome.
Yet it's a bit ironic you posted a pic of an LA Galaxy player considering the Galaxy is owned by Philip Anschutz.

It should be interesting to see who else comes out of the closet on this issue. Off to a good start it seems.

If Major League Soccer's decision WAS because of the BSA's anti-gay policies they should go ahead and say so. It would have a much stronger effect. "for a variety of business reasons" is pretty lame.

The first paragraph is written incorrectly. (sorry to nitpick)
It should probably read: Although Major League Soccer has not officially confirmed that the Boy Scouts of America anti-gay policy is the reason, we don't think it is coincidence that MLS is severing ties with BSA.
