RoadSmug criticisms of Madonna and endless Gaga comparisons are a victory for ageism and misogyny: "It goes without saying that the McCartneys, Springsteens and Dylans of the world – admirably unaware of any sell-by date on their ability – at worst suffer a few friendly jibes from the press; a jocular ‘not quite as good as he used to be but good on him for trying!’ Criticisms levelled at Madonna however are often snide and venomous in their refusal to recognise her talent. If a woman’s worth is in youth and subservience, then the aged and defiant Madonna is no good to us; an embarrassment."

  1. Spanish athletes are very often very hot. Those uniforms are awful and will look ridiculous on those hot guys.

  2. Christensen Farms really put out the spin on their web site about their pig treatment. "Individual pens" allows "individual care" and slamming piglets on the concrete is "acceptable blunt force trauma and approved by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians" and they cut off the tails so the "piglets don't bite each others tails". Pretty pathetic. Why not have big outdoor pens? Bacon free range probably tastes better. As I saw on a cooking show, pigs out in the open eating apples and ta-da: the apple sauce is already instilled in when you cook 'em.

  3. @Markus Stop kidding yourself. The entire business of raising and killing animals for the sake of satisfying one's belly is nasty, cruel, and disgusting. Not to mention that the raising of livestock has become the single most serious threat to the global environment, even bigger than the burning of fossil fuels.

The only solution to the problem is for human beings to make an advance in civilization and give up the brutal and destructive habit of eating animals.

  4. Sorry Rick, there's a Paris restaurant in the Marais which is gay owned and operated that has a seared fois-gras served with small grapefruit slices on top and a glass of Sauterne that will put one's belly in HEAVEN.

You want an order of fries with that sausage, Papi?

  6. As an avid One Million Moms member, I'll have you know that they don't edit the letters you send through their support mailer. I've taken the liberty to draft an e-mail to NBC from them:

  7. Madonna is treated as such because she is the one who constantly bashes Gaga in order to keep herself relevant instead of relying solely on her own talent.

  8. The Hollywood Reporter story about Matthew McConaughey’s character got a few things wrong, like the spelling of his name: Ron Woodroof, not Woodruff. And he wasn’t exactly heterosexual (unless you count drag queens as female) --- which is how he became positive. I’m surprised this is the first I’ve heard of this film, since my [real] name was on the buyer’s club 501(c)3 charter, but maybe they assume we’re all dead.

  9. I'm sorry, but Peter Moore lost most of his rights when he chose to end the life of four others. Among those: freedom.

  10. Nice to know that all even dozen of the 1M Moms have something to do in these hot, dry Dog Days.

  11. When was the last time the "McCartneys, Springsteens and Dylans" showed as much skin on stage?

I'm not against Madonna's recent antics (search my previous comments if you doubt) but this claim of misogyny is total BS.

  12. Those Spanish Olympics uniforms must have been designed by a Basque, to make most of the teams from other parts of Iberia look bad.

  14. Andy, I disagree with you about that blind item from d-listed regarding the possibility that Jesse Metcalfe flexes for the girls and the boys at Equinox West Hollywood. I think you, and d-listed, are confusing Jesse Metcalfe with an Equinox regular who looks *exactly* like him, except for one thing: the Equinox regular and Jesse Metcalfe lookalike has different tattoos than Metcalfe's often photographed body art. I know, I know...he looks SO much like Jesse Metcalfe--so much so that I do a double take every time I see him. But he changed in the locker room next to me one evening, and his tattoos definitely do NOT match Metcalfe's tattoos. Sad but true.

  15. Matthew McConaughey looks terrible. I´ve never seen someone look so bad after losing just 15 pounds.

  16. One Million Moms needn't bother. The New Normal will end up boycotting itself for being completely inane.

  22. The Spanish athlete should do what their fellow firemen did recently get rid of those hideous uniforms and march into the Olympics in their naked glory- to the strains of Ode to Joy- of course.
