A New Hobbit Clip That Will Make Your Sword Glow: VIDEO

The first clip of footage (aside from the trailer) of the Hobbit has just been released and features Ian McKellen's Gandalf giving Bilbo a sword, and a few words of advice:

"True courage is not when you take a life, but when you spare one."

The film, which is to be released on December 14, is still in post-production according to director Peter Jackson: “It’s due to be completed literally two days before the premiere. Hopefully."

  1. I immediately thought of Uganda. It's a very good quote...spoken (pointedly or not) by an open 'mo. Can't wait to see this!!

  3. I want to like this prequel, seriously, I do.

But I saw a promo at the theater last weekend and the dwarf people looked like they were made of plastic. I wondered if it was still not CGI'd to death at that point, but they wanted to show an ad anyway.

It better look much higher quality than what I saw or people will be very disappointed.

  4. Calling The Hobbit a prequel? That's just wrong... What are the Silmarillions than?

  5. I saw the preview in IMAX last week (was shown before Skyfall). It looked incredible (and I would say the graphics were fantastic). The audience usually ignores all the ads you see, but they were really into this.

  6. Can't wait, already got my tickets.

I believe that quote will resonate later during the scene when Bilbo spares Gollum's life.
